Etawah: DSP Narendra Singh, a recently promoted Uttar Pradesh Police officer posted in Barabanki, died after the Hyundai Creta he was travelling in collided with a truck on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Etawah. He was being treated at the Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences in Saifai after the September 26 accident.
Singh was travelling with police constable Yogendra Singh, who was serving as his gunner. The two were injured when their vehicle hit a truck near the Usrahar police station area. Singh later succumbed to his injuries, while his gunner continued to receive treatment, according to reports.
Who Was DSP Narendra Singh?
According to the official Uttar Pradesh Police profile, Narendra Singh was born on July 5, 1968, and his home place was listed as Gautam Buddh Nagar. He held a B.Sc. degree and was serving as DSP in Barabanki at the time of his death.

The UP Police lists Singh under the Provincial Police Service (PPS) Year 2025 and records his Barabanki posting from July 2, 2026.
According to media reports Singh had been promoted from Inspector to DSP around six months before the accident and that Barabanki was his first posting after the promotion. His recent appointment is also reflected in the UP Police’s current PPS listing, which places him among the officers assigned as DSPs from July 2, 2026.
What Happened to Narendra Singh?
Singh and constable Yogendra Singh were travelling on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway when their car collided with a truck near the Usrahar area of Etawah on September 26. The collision severely damaged the front portion of the vehicle and left both occupants injured. Police and Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority personnel reached the spot and helped evacuate the injured.
Both were taken to the medical university in Saifai for treatment. Singh’s condition later deteriorated and he died during treatment, according to reports published after the accident.
Reports have attributed the accident to difficult driving conditions, including rain and reduced visibility. However, details about the precise sequence of events and the speed of the vehicle should be treated as part of the ongoing police assessment unless formally established by investigators.
A Police Career Cut Short
Singh’s official police profile records his educational qualification as B.Sc., his home place as Gautam Buddh Nagar and his final posting as DSP, Barabanki. The profile does not list any service decorations or other awards.
He had taken charge in Barabanki on July 2, 2026, making the posting one of his most recent assignments before the fatal accident.
Singh’s death comes only months after his reported elevation to the DSP rank, bringing an abrupt end to a police career that had progressed from the Inspector rank to the Provincial Police Service. His family and colleagues are now mourning his death, while constable Yogendra Singh remains under treatment.
