CM Yogi Adityanath Inaugurates 226 Projects Worth ₹926 Crore in Gorakhpur, Launches Suposhan Mission Phase 2

Major development push in Gorakhpur as CM Yogi rolls out infrastructure, welfare schemes, nutrition mission, and sports facilities to boost urban growth and public services.

Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 226 development projects worth over ₹926 crore in Gorakhpur, marking a major push for infrastructure, welfare, and urban development in the region.

During the event, the Chief Minister also distributed benefits to beneficiaries, launched the second phase of the Poshan Mission (Suposhan Mission), and inaugurated a newly constructed astro turf hockey pavilion at the sports college.

226 Projects Worth ₹926 Crore Inaugurated and Launched

CM Yogi Adityanath dedicated and laid the foundation stone for a wide range of development works aimed at improving urban infrastructure and public services in Gorakhpur.

Key projects include:

  • Expansion of district jail infrastructure with new barracks (₹112 crore)
  • Multipurpose sports hall at Veer Bahadur Singh Sports College (₹10+ crore)
  • Renovation of BRD Medical College auditorium (₹27 crore)
  • Administrative building of regional cyber police station (₹5 crore)
  • Construction of residential quarters for medical staff (₹49 crore)
  • Commercial complex cum entertainment zone in Gulharia (₹48 crore)
  • Literary park under Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation (₹35 crore)

These projects are expected to enhance civic infrastructure, healthcare, education, and recreational facilities in the city.

Launch of Suposhan Mission Phase 2 for Better Nutrition

The Chief Minister also launched the second phase of the Suposhan Mission, aimed at improving nutrition among children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers.

As part of the initiative, beneficiaries received:

  • New Take Home Ration (THR) nutrition kits
  • Supplementary nutrition materials
  • Awareness on maternal and child health

Several women and children were personally handed nutrition kits by the Chief Minister during the event.

Welfare Benefits Distributed to Thousands of Beneficiaries

During the programme, CM Yogi Adityanath distributed benefits under multiple government schemes, including:

  • Housing keys under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin)
  • Ayushman Bharat health cards
  • Financial assistance under self-employment schemes
  • Agricultural subsidies and support certificates

Beneficiaries from different sectors, including women, farmers, and entrepreneurs, were directly handed assistance.

Astro Turf Hockey Pavilion Inaugurated at Sports College

At the Veer Bahadur Singh Sports College, the Chief Minister inaugurated a newly built astro turf hockey pavilion.

He interacted with young players, encouraged them, and even played a symbolic hockey stroke on the field to boost morale.

The facility is expected to strengthen sports infrastructure and promote hockey training in eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Focus on Health, Agriculture and Rural Welfare

The Chief Minister also distributed:

  • Ayushman cards for free healthcare access
  • Agricultural subsidy approval letters
  • Livestock development scheme benefits
  • Self-employment assistance under youth entrepreneurship schemes

He emphasized that government schemes are being implemented transparently to reach every eligible beneficiary.

Public Engagement, Exhibitions and Environmental Message

During the programme, CM Yogi Adityanath also:

  • Visited exhibitions and government stalls
  • Participated in Annaprashan ceremonies for children
  • Planted saplings to promote environmental awareness
  • Interacted with citizens and beneficiaries

These activities highlighted the government’s focus on public participation and social welfare.

“New Uttar Pradesh Under New India Vision”: CM Yogi

Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi Adityanath said that Uttar Pradesh is moving forward rapidly under the vision of a “New India,” emphasizing development, governance, and welfare.

He stated that Gorakhpur has witnessed major transformation in roads, connectivity, housing, and public services, and is no longer facing an identity crisis.

The large-scale inauguration of ₹926 crore worth of projects in Gorakhpur reflects the Uttar Pradesh government’s continued focus on infrastructure development, welfare delivery, and urban modernization. Alongside new projects, the launch of Suposhan Mission Phase 2 and sports infrastructure upgrades further strengthens the city’s growth trajectory.
