Four Uttarakhand cadre IPS officers—Ms. Neeru Garg (2005-batch), Mr. Mukhtar Mohsin (2005-batch), Mr. Arun Mohan Joshi (2006-batch), and Mr. Rajiv Swaroop (2006-batch)—have been barred from central deputation and overseas service for the next five years. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has officially conveyed this decision to the state government and police headquarters.

In 2024, the state government recommended the names of eight IPS officers for central deputation. However, on January 4, 2025, the state government informed the Union Home Ministry that four officers would not be sent on deputation due to various reasons.
By that time, the Centre had already approved the deputation of all eight officers and assigned them roles in various forces. The MHA’s letter clarified that if these officers were not relieved for deputation within a month, they would face a five-year prohibition from central deputation.
With this restriction now in place, the affected officers will be ineligible for central postings or foreign assignments until 2030.
