Srinagar/Jammu: In two significant developments concerning the AGMUT cadre, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has transferred Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Satyendra Maurya from Jammu & Kashmir to Chandigarh, while the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has empanelled six senior AGMUT cadre IPS officers for appointment to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP).
The decisions are being viewed as important administrative developments within the AGMUT cadre, impacting both the forest administration and senior police leadership pipeline across Union Territories.
IFS Officer Satyendra Maurya Transferred to Chandigarh
According to an official order issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Satyendra Maurya (IFS:2020 AGMUT) has been transferred from Jammu & Kashmir to Chandigarh with immediate effect.
Maurya, who was serving as Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF), has been directed to report to his new place of posting immediately and submit his joining report to the Ministry.
Key Forest Assignments in Jammu & Kashmir
An AGMUT cadre officer of the 2020 batch, Maurya has handled several important assignments in Jammu & Kashmir’s Forest Department over the past few years.
DFO Nowshera
In March 2023, he was posted as Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Nowshera, where he supervised:
- Afforestation projects
- Forest clearance matters linked to infrastructure projects
- Land inspection and forest management activities
DFO Jhelum Valley Division, Baramulla
Maurya later served as DFO, Jhelum Valley Division, Baramulla, where he focused on:
- Plantation and afforestation drives
- Community forestry programmes
- Tribal livelihood initiatives
One of the notable initiatives during his tenure was the promotion of Van Dhan Vikas Kendras, aimed at supporting forest-dependent tribal communities through sustainable livelihood opportunities.
DFO Udhampur
In July 2025, he was transferred as DFO Udhampur, where he oversaw:
- Forest governance
- Conservation programmes
- Protection and management of forest resources
With his transfer to Chandigarh, the Forest Department is expected to issue further administrative arrangements regarding his replacement.
Six AGMUT IPS Officers Cleared for DGP Rank
In another important development, the Ministry of Home Affairs has empanelled six senior AGMUT cadre IPS officers for appointment to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP).
The empanelment clears the officers for consideration against DGP-level positions in Union Territories and organizations under the AGMUT cadre.

Among the six officers empanelled, three belong to the erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir segment of the AGMUT cadre:
- Dr. Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal
- Rajesh Kumar
- Tsewang Namgyal Kalon

The DGP empanelment serves as the gateway for appointment to the highest police leadership positions within the AGMUT cadre and central organisations.
