New Delhi: The Government of India has ordered the premature repatriation of senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Radha Katyal Narang to her parent cadre on personal grounds.
The order was issued through an Office Memorandum from Kartavya Bhawan and approved by the Competent Authority on a proposal moved by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

According to the memorandum, the officer—currently serving as Director in the Department of Official Language under the Ministry of Home Affairs—has been directed to be relieved immediately and report back to her parent cadre.
The order was issued by Ajit Kumar Ranjan, Deputy Secretary to the Government of India, and circulated to all concerned departments for compliance.
It also includes a provision for extended cooling-off, as part of standard deputation norms.
Current Role and Career Background
Ms Narang is a 2005-batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax). She was serving as Director in the Department of Official Language since June 2025.
Her tenure was originally scheduled to continue under central deputation until September 7, 2027.

Over the course of her career, she has held multiple senior positions under the Central Staffing Scheme, including:
- Director, Department of Official Language (Ministry of Home Affairs) – June 2025 onwards
- Director, Department of Justice (Ministry of Law & Justice) – March 2024 to June 2025
- Director, Department of Tourism, Delhi – August 2022 onwards, with involvement in G20 Secretariat operations
She holds an MA and LLB degree and was born on September 10, 1977.
Parallel Senior Bureaucratic Posting: IFS Officer Transferred to J&K
In a separate administrative development, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has ordered the immediate inter-cadre transfer of senior Indian Forest Service officer Kamal Preet to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir from Mizoram.
New Posting as APCCF in J&K
According to the official order, Kamal Preet, a 1997-batch officer of the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed as Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (APCCF) in Jammu and Kashmir.
The post is at Level-15 of the pay matrix, with a salary scale of ₹1,82,200–₹2,24,100.
He has been directed to join his new posting immediately and submit a joining report to the ministry without delay.
Extensive Experience in Forest Administration
Kamal Preet brings extensive experience in forestry, environmental management, and administrative leadership across multiple regions.
His previous key assignments include:
- Additional Director General, Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun
- General Manager, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Forest and Plantation Development Corporation Limited (ANIFPDCL), Port Blair
- Deputy Conservator of Forests in Delhi and Arunachal Pradesh
- Divisional Forest Officer in Arunachal Pradesh
He holds an M.Phil in Botany and has been actively involved in forestry research, policy implementation, and conservation initiatives.

Kamal Preet is a 1997-batch Indian Forest Service officer of the AGMUT cadre, which covers Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories.
He has earlier served in key conservation and administrative roles, including in Delhi’s environment department and at ICFRE, contributing significantly to forestry research coordination and environmental governance.
