Jashpur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated an advanced day-care centre for senior citizens, ‘Siyan Gudi’, in Jashpur and spent time with the elderly by playing carrom and interacting with them. The initiative aims to provide care, dignity, and engagement opportunities for senior citizens in the state.
Warm Interaction with Senior Citizens
During the inauguration, CM Sai engaged in a friendly carrom game with elderly citizens, boosting their enthusiasm and morale. The senior citizens expressed happiness at meeting the Chief Minister and thanked the state government for developing the facility.
The Chief Minister also distributed food baskets and honored senior citizens with religious books, shawls, and traditional offerings like coconut.
Addressing Challenges Faced by Elderly in Changing Society
CM Sai highlighted that Chhattisgarh is known for its strong cultural traditions and family values, but changing lifestyles have created challenges for the elderly.
He pointed out issues such as:
- Growth of nuclear families
- Migration of youth for jobs
- Busy urban lifestyles
These factors often lead to loneliness among senior citizens, which can negatively impact their mental and physical health.
‘Siyan Gudi’ Designed for Active and Dignified Aging
The Chief Minister said the ‘Siyan Gudi’ day-care centre has been conceptualized to address these concerns. It provides a safe and engaging environment where elderly people can spend their day actively and happily.
He also inspected the facility and appreciated its modern infrastructure, calling it a model initiative for elderly care.
Multi-Service Facility for Senior Citizens
Located near Ranjita Stadium on Bagalpur Road in Jashpur, the centre is designed as a comprehensive care unit offering a wide range of services, including:
- Yoga and pranayama sessions
- Cultural and recreational activities
- Digital and financial literacy training
- Skill development programs
- Health check-ups and teleconsultation
- Physiotherapy and basic medical support
It also provides legal and family counseling services for senior citizens.
Advanced Infrastructure and Emergency Support System
The centre is equipped with modern facilities such as:
- Wheelchair-accessible and barrier-free design
- Separate and accessible washrooms
- Library and reading corner
- CCTV surveillance and biometric attendance system
- Telemedicine and regular medical consultation
