Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated and laid the foundation for 774 roads under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase-4 at Ranjita Stadium, Jashpur. The total length of these roads will be 2,426.875 kilometers, with an estimated cost of ₹2,225.44 crore.
During the event, CM Sai also announced ₹80 lakh for the renovation of Vashistha Community Hall in Jashpur district headquarters.
PMGSY Phase-4 to Strengthen Rural Connectivity
The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction at the launch, noting that the new roads will connect 781 villages with robust road infrastructure. CM Sai emphasized that this initiative realizes the vision of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji for rural development, now further accelerated under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
These roads are expected to:
- Enhance access to healthcare and education
- Boost agriculture and local economic activities
- Provide overall development to remote tribal areas
CM Sai highlighted that tribal communities will experience direct benefits, ensuring prosperity and streamlined connectivity to mainstream development.

Boosting Economic Activities in Rural Areas
CM Sai stressed that the simultaneous foundation laying of a large number of roads reflects the government’s strong commitment to rural development. He stated that permanent road connectivity will facilitate smoother transportation, better access to education, healthcare, and faster economic growth in rural areas.
He noted that under PM Modi’s leadership, road network expansion in Chhattisgarh has achieved unprecedented progress, with most villages now connected through PMGSY and PM Janman initiatives.
Focus on Tribal and Backward Areas
CM Sai mentioned that these roads will directly benefit tribal and backward communities, linking them with mainstream development. He highlighted key initiatives:
- IndiaMala Corridor connecting Raipur to Visakhapatnam and Dhanbad via Jashpur
- Establishment of 515 Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS), now totaling 2,573, to provide farmers with seeds, fertilizers, and short-term loans
- Government procurement of paddy at ₹3,100 per quintal, transferring over ₹10,000 crore to 25.28 lakh farmers’ accounts

Upcoming Construction and Road Network Expansion
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma stated that construction of the 774 roads will begin soon. Over the last two years, more than 1,300 roads have been completed in the state. PM Janman projects are also targeting special backward tribal regions to integrate them into the mainstream.
Under PMGSY Phase-4:
- 3,065 roadless villages identified for development
- Batch-2 proposes 975 roads (2,684 km) for 1,000 villages, pending central approval
- Special tribal areas to get 807 roads (2,902 km) and 123 major bridges costing ₹2,477 crore, benefiting 871 villages
PMGSY Progress So Far
Under the PMGSY scheme, a total of 47,847 kilometers of 10,119 roads and 581 major bridges have been sanctioned. Out of these, 42,250 kilometers of 8,713 roads and 444 bridges have been completed.In Jashpur district, 77 roads (197.26 km) worth ₹196.20 crore are planned, with phased construction across development blocks, improving connectivity to remote areas and accelerating local development.
Strong Government Support and Public Participation
The inauguration program was attended by several MLAs, government officials, and local citizens, demonstrating robust public engagement in Chhattisgarh’s rural development initiatives.
