Mungeli: Mungeli district in Chhattisgarh witnessed a major development milestone under the state-wide “Good Governance Festival 2026” as Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over ₹353 crore. The event was held at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in the district headquarters and marked a significant push toward infrastructure, welfare, and public service expansion.
414 Development Works Launched Across Key Sectors
A total of 414 development projects were dedicated to the public, including 284 completed works worth ₹152.02 crore and 130 new projects worth ₹201.56 crore. These initiatives span across sectors such as roads, drinking water, education, healthcare, sanitation, and public infrastructure.
Officials stated that the projects will significantly strengthen basic civic amenities and improve connectivity across rural and urban areas of Mungeli district.

Focus on Infrastructure, Education, and Healthcare
During the event, multiple infrastructure projects were inaugurated, including:
- Road connectivity projects such as Mungeli–Bhatgaon road and village link roads
- Community buildings, Anganwadi centres, and school infrastructure upgrades
- Healthcare facilities including community and urban primary health centres
- Water-related projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission
- Beautification of ponds, construction of bridges, and STP (sewage treatment plant) works
The Chief Minister also virtually inaugurated Swami Atmanand schools under the state education quality initiative.
Welfare Benefits Distributed to Over 280 Beneficiaries
More than 282 beneficiaries received direct benefits under various government schemes. Key distributions included:
- Housing keys under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin)
- Financial assistance under labour welfare schemes
- Fishing kits and ice boxes for fishermen
- Mini kits for farmers
- Cheques and aid materials for affected families under rehabilitation programs
Outstanding students from Class 10 merit lists were also awarded laptops in recognition of academic excellence.

Leadership Emphasizes Good Governance and Transparency
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the government is committed to transparent, timely, and effective grievance redressal under the Good Governance Festival initiative. He emphasized that accountability in public service delivery is being strictly enforced.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao highlighted that the administration is working to translate welfare promises into ground reality, while Minister of Commerce and Industry Lakhhan Lal Dewangan credited the state’s leadership for accelerating regional development.
Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu and several other senior leaders also attended the event, underscoring its political and developmental significance.
New Announcements and Cultural Highlights
The Chief Minister announced several new initiatives, including:
- ₹25 lakh for installation of Rani Durgavati statue
- ₹20 lakh for construction of a postgraduate hostel and village infrastructure works
- ₹10 lakh for CC road development
- Positive assurance for establishing a medical college in the region
Statues of historical and social reform figures such as Mata Karma, Baba Guru Ghasidas, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and Maharana Pratap were also unveiled during the event.
Mungeli Set for Accelerated Growth
Local representatives including MLA Punnulal Mohle and others welcomed the development package, calling it a turning point for Mungeli’s growth trajectory.
Officials concluded that the large-scale investment will boost connectivity, improve living standards, and strengthen public infrastructure, positioning Mungeli as a rapidly developing district in Chhattisgarh.
