Surguja: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has directed the Surguja district administration in Chhattisgarh to take urgent steps to resolve a drinking water crisis in Cherajobla village of the Mainpat region after taking note of a media report highlighting the issue.
The Chief Minister’s swift intervention came after he read a newspaper report titled “Nala aur dhodhi ke dushit jal par aaj bhi nirbhar hain vanvasi”, which pointed out the village’s dependence on contaminated water sources.
Collector Asked to Ensure Immediate Drinking Water Supply
Following the report, CM Sai immediately contacted Surguja Collector Ajit Vasant and instructed him to ensure safe drinking water arrangements in the affected village without delay.
He also ordered an on-ground inspection and directed officials to implement urgent relief measures, including:
- Installation and repair of handpumps
- Alternative drinking water supply arrangements
- Immediate field assessment of local conditions
Focus on Safe Drinking Water in Tribal and Remote Areas
The Chief Minister emphasized that residents in remote and forested regions should not be deprived of basic facilities like drinking water.
He stressed that delivering essential services in tribal and interior areas remains a top priority for the government, especially in vulnerable settlements.
Long-Term Solutions for PVTG-Dominated Regions
CM Vishnu Deo Sai also instructed officials to conduct regular reviews of essential services in Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) areas.
He called for continuous monitoring of:
- Drinking water availability
- Road connectivity
- Healthcare services
- Educational infrastructure
Government Focus on Ground-Level Implementation of Welfare Schemes
The Chief Minister reiterated that the government’s objective is not just to design welfare schemes but to ensure their effective implementation at the grassroots level.
He said that timely delivery of basic amenities will remain a key focus, particularly in tribal and remote regions of the state.
