New Delhi: CISF Mopa Airport security upgrade has received a major boost after a new high-tech system was deployed in Goa. On April 16, 2026, a Mini Remotely Operated Vehicle (MROV) was officially handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) unit at Manohar International Airport, Mopa.

This development marks a significant step in strengthening aviation safety and improving emergency response capabilities at one of India’s fastest-growing airports.

The move highlights the increasing use of advanced technology in airport security to ensure passenger safety and efficient operations.

Details of CISF Mopa Airport Security Upgrade

The Mini Remotely Operated Vehicle (MROV) has been provided by GMR Goa International Airport Limited (GGIAL) to the CISF Aviation Security Group (ASG) at Mopa Airport.

This advanced device will mainly support the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS). It allows security teams to inspect suspicious objects from a safe distance, reducing risk to personnel.

The induction of this system is seen as a major step forward in strengthening airport security preparedness. It ensures faster and safer handling of potential threats within the airport premises.

How CISF Mopa Airport Security Upgrade Strengthens Safety

The MROV plays a crucial role in modern aviation security systems.

  • It enables remote inspection of suspicious items
  • Reduces direct exposure of security personnel
  • Improves response time during emergencies
  • Minimizes disruption to airport operations

Experts note that such technology is especially important for busy airports like Mopa, where maintaining smooth operations is critical while ensuring high security standards.

Strong Coordination Between CISF and GGIAL

The handover ceremony was attended by senior officials from CISF and GGIAL, including key airport security and operational heads.

This reflects strong coordination between airport operators and security forces. Such collaboration is essential for maintaining high levels of aviation safety and handling emergencies effectively.

Importance of Mopa Airport in India’s Aviation Network

Manohar International Airport (Mopa) is a major greenfield airport in North Goa. It started operations in 2023 and serves both domestic and international passengers.

Developed under a public-private partnership model by GMR Group, the airport is expected to handle millions of passengers annually and support regional economic growth.

With rising passenger traffic, the need for advanced security systems has become even more important.

Boost to CISF’s Bomb Disposal Capabilities

The addition of the MROV will significantly improve the efficiency of CISF’s Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS).

  • Enhances operational readiness
  • Supports quick threat neutralization
  • Strengthens overall airport security framework

This move aligns with India’s broader strategy to upgrade aviation security using modern technology.

Growing Focus on Technology-Driven Security

Indian airports are increasingly adopting smart and automated systems to handle security challenges.

The deployment of MROV at Mopa Airport reflects this shift towards:

  • Smart surveillance
  • Automated threat detection
  • Safer emergency handling

Such advancements are crucial for maintaining global aviation security standards.
