Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved a series of major development projects worth nearly ₹495 crore to accelerate infrastructure growth across the state. The approved projects include preparations for Kumbh Mela 2027 in Haridwar, road construction, tourism and religious site development, urban infrastructure, employee benefits, and several public welfare initiatives.
The decisions were taken with the aim of strengthening basic facilities, improving connectivity, and ensuring timely completion of important projects across Uttarakhand.
₹43.87 Crore Approved for Reliable Power Supply During Kumbh Mela 2027
Keeping the upcoming Kumbh Mela 2027 in Haridwar as a priority, the Uttarakhand government has approved ₹43.87 crore to ensure uninterrupted and reliable electricity supply during the mega religious event.
Under the project, an initial amount of ₹17.55 crore will be released in the first phase. The funds will be used to strengthen electricity infrastructure and ensure smooth power management during the large-scale gathering of devotees and visitors.
Over ₹7 Crore Approved for Road Construction and Improvement Projects
The state government has sanctioned funds for several road development projects across different districts.
Key approvals include:
- ₹3.08 crore for reconstruction and improvement of the Bharpur-Ponth motor road in Narendra Nagar assembly constituency of Tehri district.
- ₹47 lakh and ₹36 lakh for construction of two cement concrete roads in the Kankhal area of Haridwar district.
- ₹3.72 crore for road improvement work from Satsang Bhawan Maharajpur to Gangdaspur in Laksar assembly constituency.
- Multiple road reconstruction projects in Sitarganj area of Udham Singh Nagar district, covering routes in Govindnagar, Rajninagar, Gau Ghat, Karhariya, and main market areas.
These projects are expected to improve connectivity for rural and urban communities.
Religious and Tourism Projects Receive Major Boost
The Uttarakhand government has also approved funding for several religious and tourism-related projects.
Important approvals include:
- ₹53.51 lakh for construction and beautification of the Shiv Temple in Bhikiyasen, Almora district. The first installment of ₹32.10 lakh will be released.
- ₹80.35 lakh for construction of the route from Jumma Malla Gwar to Chhipla Sarovar in Dharchula, Pithoragarh.
- ₹37.60 lakh for the bathing ghat construction at Rampaduka Temple in Chaukhutia.
- ₹60 lakh for establishing a Women Technology Park in Champawat.
The projects aim to improve facilities at religious destinations and promote tourism opportunities in the state.
₹4.62 Crore Approved for Gunji Village Development
The government has approved ₹4.62 crore for the overall development of Gunji village in Pithoragarh district.
The funds will support infrastructure improvement and development activities in the strategically important border village, helping enhance basic facilities for residents and visitors.
Major Infrastructure Projects Get Financial Approval
Several large infrastructure projects have also received approval:
- ₹19.91 crore for construction of RTC facilities and barracks at the 31st Battalion PAC in Rudrapur. The first installment of ₹3.14 crore will be released.
- ₹38.58 crore for a multi-level parking facility at the vacant land of the old Tehsil campus in Ramnagar.
- ₹3.05 crore for developing an adventure park in Champawat.
- ₹5.38 crore for expansion of the second floor of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) building in Dehradun.
- Approval for setting up a childcare home at the Civil Judge Court complex in Didihat, Pithoragarh.
₹410 Crore Released for Urban Local Bodies and District Panchayats
To strengthen local-level development, the Uttarakhand government has approved the release of funds for urban and rural local bodies.
Under the interim arrangement until the recommendations of the Sixth State Finance Commission are implemented:
- ₹328.28 crore will be provided to urban local bodies.
- ₹82.21 crore will be released to district panchayats.
The government expects these funds to speed up development activities at the grassroots level.
Dearness Allowance Increased for Government Employees
Chief Minister Dhami has also approved an increase in dearness allowance (DA) for employees of the state government, autonomous bodies, and public sector units who receive salaries according to the Fifth and Sixth Central Pay Commissions.
The revised DA rates, effective from January 1, 2026, are:
- Fifth Pay Commission employees: DA increased from 474% to 483%
- Sixth Pay Commission employees: DA increased from 257% to 262%
The decision will benefit eligible employees across the state.
Two Roads in Almora Renamed in Honour of Historical Figures
The state government has approved the renaming of two motor roads in Almora district’s Ranikhet assembly constituency.
The changes include:
- Bidora-Chhevi Patshahi Gate to Dhoomkheda Road renamed as “Sahibzade Fateh Singh Road”
- Sauni-Daudakhal-Tipola Motor Road renamed in memory of late Uttarakhand statehood movement activist Puran Singh Dangwal
The move aims to honour personalities associated with history and the state movement.
Uttarakhand Government’s Development Push Ahead of Kumbh Mela 2027
With these approvals, the Uttarakhand government has placed special emphasis on infrastructure development, religious tourism, public services, and urban facilities. The large-scale investments are expected to improve connectivity, strengthen essential services, and prepare Haridwar and other parts of the state for future challenges, including the upcoming Kumbh Mela 2027.
