New Delhi: The Tejas Mk1A delivery 2026 is expected to happen this year, as confirmed by Defence Production Secretary Sanjeev Kumar.
The government has shown full confidence that the Indian Air Force will receive the fighter jets soon, even after facing delays. Officials say most of the work is already complete, and only a small part is left.
Details of Tejas Mk1A Delivery
- Government is 100% confident about delivery this year
- Around 90% of Tejas Mk1A work is completed
- Delays mainly due to engine supply issues
- Fighter jets are being developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)

Tejas Mk1A Delivery: Official Statement
Defence Production Secretary Sanjeev Kumar said:
- The Tejas Mk1A fighter jet is almost ready
- Only 5–10% work is pending
- Remaining work is mainly related to weapons integration
- The delivery will happen within the current financial year
He clearly stated that the government is fully confident about meeting the deadline.
Why Was There a Delay?
The delay in Tejas Mk1A delivery happened due to:
- Late supply of engines from GE Aerospace (USA)
- Some technical integration work still ongoing
- Final testing and configuration updates
Officials said that these issues are now being resolved.
Current Status of Tejas Mk1A
- About 90% of the aircraft is ready
- Integration of advanced weapons is in final stage
- Production is ongoing at HAL facilities
- First prototype flight already completed earlier
