Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Attends AUD 13th Convocation in Delhi, Over 1,300 Students Conferred Degrees

New Delhi: The Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) conducted its 13th annual convocation ceremony on Thursday, where over 1,300 students were awarded degrees across undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programmes.

The event highlighted themes of education, innovation, and nation-building in the era of rapid technological transformation.

Education Key to Nation-Building in AI Era: LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu addressed the ceremony and said that education remains the strongest foundation for nation-building in the age of artificial intelligence and rapid technological change.

He praised the university for emerging as a preferred institution through CUET admissions and for promoting inclusivity, academic excellence, and critical thinking.

He also encouraged graduates to embrace continuous learning, innovation, and leadership beyond formal degrees.

CM Rekha Gupta Highlights Family Effort and Nation-Building Role of Students

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta congratulated the graduating students and said that the convocation marks an important milestone not only for students but also for their families.

She emphasized that education is a collective achievement involving parents and teachers, adding that universities play a crucial role in shaping responsible citizens and nation builders.

She also spoke about the importance of responsible citizenship and encouraged students to stay connected with national development.

Vice Chancellor Urges Use of Public Transport Amid Energy Concerns

AUD Vice Chancellor Prof. Anu Singh Lather presented the university’s annual report, stating that 1,030 students received UG and PG degrees, while over 300 students were awarded PhD degrees, with more than 75% being women.

She also appealed to students, faculty, and staff to use public transport instead of private vehicles, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for fuel conservation during global energy challenges.

She became the first university head in Delhi to officially urge such a shift toward public transport usage.

Government Employees to Receive Medical Benefits Under LMHS Scheme

During the event, CM Rekha Gupta also distributed medical health cards under the Liberalised Medical Health Scheme (LMHS) for contractual employees.

The scheme will allow employees and their families to receive cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals and diagnostic centres.

Senior Leaders Attend Convocation Ceremony

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Delhi PWD Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh, MP Bansuri Swaraj, NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra, Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal, and other officials.

The 13th convocation of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi highlighted the importance of education in nation-building, digital-era learning, and responsible citizenship. The emphasis on public transport and healthcare benefits further reinforced the government’s focus on sustainable and inclusive development.
