New Delhi: The Delhi government‘s Finance Committee has approved the construction of a six-lane elevated road in South Delhi, a crucial project aimed at enhancing the city’s traffic flow and connectivity. The Rs 1,471 crore project, stretching 5 kilometers from Saket G Block to Pul Prahladpur, is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in one of the city’s busiest areas. Construction is set to begin soon, with a target completion date set for December 2027, according to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

Funding and Scope of the Elevated Corridor

The elevated corridor will be a major boost for commuters traveling through the southern part of Delhi. The construction of this elevated road is expected to provide smoother traffic movement, reduce bottlenecks, and significantly improve the travel experience in South Delhi. The project will be funded by the Delhi government, marking a major step in the region’s urban infrastructure development.

Common Facility Centres in Badli and Bawana to Boost Micro & Small Enterprises

In addition to the elevated road, the Delhi government has also approved the setting up of two Common Facility Centres (CFCs) in Badli and Bawana under the Micro & Small Enterprises Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP). The Rs 60 crore project, which will be implemented in the 2025-26 financial year, aims to support micro and small businesses through shared infrastructure and resources. This initiative, funded jointly by the Centre and Delhi Government, is expected to boost the local economy by providing critical facilities to small-scale industries.

CM Rekha Gupta Inaugurates Development Works Worth Rs 100 Crore in RK Puram

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recently inaugurated a series of development works worth approximately Rs 100 crore in the RK Puram Assembly constituency. These initiatives are aimed at addressing the long-standing gaps in infrastructure and public amenities in the area. Gupta highlighted that development activities had been stalled for years under the previous government, particularly in areas with large jhuggi clusters.

Upgrades to Roads, Community Centres, and Parks in RK Puram

As part of the ongoing development work, roads in RK Puram will be constructed and repaired, and dilapidated community platforms (chaupals) will be renovated. Community centers will also receive upgrades, and parks will be beautified to offer residents more recreational space. In a move to promote public health, open gym equipment will be installed in parks, and boundary walls will be constructed where necessary to improve security.

Commitment to Public Welfare and Dignified Living for All Residents

One of the key announcements from Chief Minister Gupta was the commitment to improving the living standards of residents in informal settlements. Gupta emphasized that the current government’s focus is not on removing jhuggis but on providing essential services and a dignified life for residents, including permanent housing, toilets, roads, drains, parks, and play areas for children.

Government’s Focus on Development and Infrastructure

Gupta pointed out that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Delhi now has guaranteed funds for public development projects. This assurance comes after previous governments limited the availability of funds for local development works, causing significant delays in essential projects. She noted that this new approach marks a transformative shift in Delhi’s governance and public service delivery.

A New Era of Development in Delhi

The approval of the elevated road project, along with the development works in RK Puram and support for micro and small enterprises, highlights the Delhi government’s strong focus on infrastructure and public welfare. With a clear vision to improve connectivity, promote public health, and ensure dignified living conditions for all, the government’s latest initiatives are set to transform Delhi into a more modern and sustainable city for its residents.
