New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday launched the Green Drive Portal at the Delhi Secretariat in Delhi, marking a major step under the government’s flagship environmental initiative ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’.
The campaign aims to strengthen urban greenery by targeting the plantation of 70 lakh saplings across the national capital, with active public participation at its core.
During the launch, the Chief Minister urged citizens to join the initiative and contribute towards building a greener, cleaner, and healthier Delhi.
What the Green Drive Portal Offers
The newly launched portal is designed to make large-scale plantation participation easier and more organized. It provides four key services:
- Mega Plantation Drive Slot Booking: Citizens can reserve plantation slots online
- Environmental Saviour Registration: Individuals can enroll as “Green Warriors” and stay connected with government green initiatives
- Free Sapling Booking: Residents can reserve saplings from nearby government nurseries
- Nursery Locator: Helps users identify the nearest government nursery for collection of plants
All services are accessible through the official portal:

‘Vriksh Rath’ Initiative for Doorstep Plantation Support
As part of the campaign, the Forest Department will deploy ‘Vriksh Rath’ teams to support plantation activities across the city.
These mobile teams will:
- Deliver free saplings directly to homes and institutions
- Provide essential plantation tools and equipment
- Offer technical guidance for proper plantation
- Assist Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), schools, offices, and housing societies
The initiative ensures that citizens can participate even if they lack access to nurseries or plantation expertise.
Focus on Native Tree Species for Long-Term Green Growth
The plantation drive emphasizes native and long-living tree species, including:
- Peepal
- Banyan
- Gular
- Neem
- Arjun
- Jamun
Officials stated that prioritizing native species will help improve ecological balance, increase survival rates, and strengthen Delhi’s urban forest cover.
100 Oxygen Parks Planned Across Delhi
In addition to mass plantation, the Delhi government has announced plans to develop 100 Oxygen Parks across the city.
These parks will function as dense green zones aimed at:
- Improving air quality
- Enhancing urban biodiversity
- Creating public green spaces for recreation and awareness
Constituency-Based Plantation Planning
Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said plantation sites have been systematically categorized across all 70 Assembly constituencies.
This allows citizens to:
- Book plantation slots based on their constituency or preferred location
- Participate in designated plantation drives or open green spaces
- Extend plantation activities to homes, rooftops, institutions, and vacant lands
He emphasized that the campaign is designed to go beyond fixed plantation zones and encourage widespread public involvement.
Citizen Participation at the Core of the Campaign
The Green Drive Portal aims to convert environmental action into a year-round public movement. By integrating digital tools with on-ground support systems like Vriksh Rath, the government seeks to ensure maximum participation from residents, schools, RWAs, and institutions.
The initiative reflects a broader push toward sustainable urban development and long-term ecological restoration in Delhi.
