New Delhi: The Delhi Government formally inaugurated ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi – Cooperative Week 2026’ at the Delhi Secretariat on Monday, marking five years since the establishment of the Government of India’s Ministry of Cooperation. The week-long initiative aims to strengthen awareness and participation in the cooperative sector across the national capital.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the campaign and also flagged off a Cooperative Awareness Van, which will travel across multiple parts of Delhi to educate citizens about the benefits and role of cooperative institutions.
Inaugural Ceremony at Delhi Secretariat
The opening ceremony was attended by several senior leaders and officials, including:
- Delhi Cooperation Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh
- Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa
- Minister Ashish Sood
- Senior officials from the Department of Cooperation
- Representatives of various cooperative institutions
As part of the launch, the Chief Minister released colourful balloons symbolising the start of the awareness campaign. Street plays and public engagement activities were also organised at the Delhi Secretariat to highlight the importance of cooperative participation.
Cooperative Awareness Van to Reach Every Corner of Delhi
A key highlight of the campaign was the flagging off of the Cooperative Awareness Van, designed to move across different localities of Delhi.
The van will:
- Promote awareness about cooperative institutions
- Educate citizens on economic and social benefits of cooperation
- Encourage community participation in cooperative activities
Officials stated that the initiative is aimed at making the cooperative movement more accessible and engaging for the general public.
Week-Long Programmes to Promote Cooperation and Participation
The Cooperative Week 2026 will run for several days and include a wide range of activities across Delhi. These include:
- Awareness drives on cooperative institutions
- Educational seminars and panel discussions
- Tree plantation campaigns
- Quiz competitions (online and offline)
- Community outreach programmes
- Public participation events
The government aims to encourage greater involvement of citizens in cooperative institutions through these initiatives.
Focus on Digital Governance and Modernisation of Cooperatives
Speaking at the event, Cooperation Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh said the Delhi Government is working to modernise cooperative institutions using technology and transparency-driven governance.
He stated that:
- Cooperative institutions are being strengthened through digital services
- Governance is being made more transparent and efficient
- The goal is to make institutions more accountable and citizen-friendly
According to him, this transformation will help improve service delivery while boosting economic progress through cooperative structures.
Environmental Drive: 10,000 Saplings to Be Planted
As part of the campaign’s environmental initiatives, nearly 10,000 saplings will be planted across Delhi.
Key plantation sites include:
- Narela
- Dwarka
- Rohini
- Other parts of the city
The plantation drive aims to promote environmental conservation alongside cooperative awareness.
CM Rekha Gupta Highlights Vision of Collective Development
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that cooperation is not just an economic model but a system of social participation and collective growth.
She stated that:
“Cooperation is not merely an economic system but a powerful medium for social participation, self-reliance, and collective development.”
She further added that the Delhi Government is committed to implementing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’, ensuring it reaches every citizen.
Call for Public Participation
Cooperation Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh urged citizens to actively participate in the week-long activities. He said collective involvement is essential to strengthen the cooperative movement and achieve broader development goals.
He also highlighted that the initiative aligns with the broader vision of:
- Viksit Delhi
- Viksit Bharat 2047
Strengthening the Cooperative Movement in Delhi
The ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi – Cooperative Week 2026’ is expected to enhance public awareness, encourage participation in cooperative institutions, and promote sustainable development initiatives across Delhi.
The celebrations will conclude on July 6 with a grand closing ceremony, where outstanding cooperative institutions, competition winners, and contributors to the cooperative sector will be honoured.
