New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced a significant salary hike for vocational teachers and educators working under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan after a cabinet meeting held at the Delhi Secretariat on Tuesday.

The decision aims to improve teacher welfare, strengthen motivation, and enhance the quality of education for out-of-school children.

Major Salary Increase for Vocational Teachers

Under the new revision, around 1,131 vocational teachers in Delhi will now receive a salary of ₹38,100 per month, up from the earlier range of ₹20,000 to ₹23,000.

These teachers provide skill-based training across various disciplines, helping students gain employable skills and academic support.

Samagra Shiksha Teachers to Get Equal Pay with School Teachers

Teachers working under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan will also see a major hike. Their salary has been increased from ₹21,000 to ₹35,420 per month.

These educators work across 784 special training centres, which focus on children who have either dropped out of school or never attended school, helping them re-enter mainstream education.

Focus on Out-of-School Children and Inclusive Education

CM Rekha Gupta emphasized that these training centres play a crucial role in bringing marginalised and out-of-school children back into the education system.

She said ensuring no child in Delhi is left behind in education remains a top priority of the government.

Recognition of Teachers’ Contribution

Calling the decision more than just a financial revision, the Chief Minister said it is a recognition of teachers’ dedication.

She stated that:

  • Motivated teachers are key to quality education
  • Financial security will improve morale
  • Better support will improve learning outcomes for children

Strengthening Monitoring and Education Quality

The government is also focusing on:

  • Regular monitoring of training centres
  • Parent counselling initiatives
  • Inter-departmental coordination

These efforts aim to ensure effective reintegration of children into formal schooling and improve overall education standards.

Government Commitment to Education Reform

Reaffirming her commitment, CM Rekha Gupta said the government is working to ensure every child in Delhi receives education and has a secure future.

She added that the salary hike is part of broader reforms aimed at education innovation and continuous improvement in the system.

Step Towards Inclusive and Quality Education

The salary revision is expected to significantly improve teacher satisfaction and strengthen Delhi’s education outreach, especially for vulnerable children. The move reflects the government’s focus on building a more inclusive, motivated, and high-quality education system in the capital.
