New Delhi: The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) has commenced the Joint Parcel Product–Rapid Cargo Service (JPP–RCS) on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), marking a major step towards strengthening rail-based parcel logistics in India.
The new service is designed to provide faster, reliable and scheduled transportation for e-commerce, FMCG, retail cargo, courier companies, logistics aggregators, transporters and other bulk parcel customers.
JPP–RCS Connects New Dadri with Gujarat
The JPP–RCS has commenced on the New Dadri (Uttar Pradesh/Delhi NCR) – New Motidau (Mehsana, Gujarat) – New Ancheli (Navsari, Gujarat) route.
The originating service from New Dadri commenced on August 18, 2026, while the return service from New Ancheli to New Dadri will begin on August 20, 2026.
The service will operate daily.

- Route: New Dadri – New Motidau – New Ancheli
- Corridor: Western Dedicated Freight Corridor
- Distance: Approximately 1,200 km one way
- Frequency: Daily
- Return service: Starts August 20, 2026
- Transit time: Approximately 23 hours
- Composition: 15 LVPH and one SLR
- Intermediate station: New Motidau, Mehsana, Gujarat
New Motidau will function as an intermediate loading and unloading point, giving parcel operators and customers greater flexibility.

Service Launched in Presence of Railway Board and DFCCIL Officials
The JPP–RCS was launched by Dr. Manoj Singh, Member (Operations & Business Development), Railway Board, in the presence of Mr. Praveen Kumar, Managing Director, DFCCIL.
Other senior officials present at the launch included:
- Mr. Deepak Jha, Adviser (Commercial), Railway Board
- Mr. Shyam Sundar Gupta, Principal Executive Director (Infrastructure), Railway Board
- Mr. Navin Kumar Parsuramka, Principal Executive Director (Coaching), Railway Board
Senior officials from DFCCIL and Indian Railways also attended the launch event.
JPP–RCS to Serve E-Commerce and Logistics Sector
The new service has been designed to meet the growing demand for dependable and time-sensitive parcel transportation.
It will cater to:
- E-commerce companies
- FMCG businesses
- Retail cargo
- Courier companies
- Logistics aggregators
- Transporters
- Manufacturers
- Traders
- Bulk parcel customers
The service is being patronised by Amazon and Harsh Logistics, along with other e-commerce and supply-chain partners, with indents placed through the Freight Business Development (FBD) portal.

Integrated Rail-and-Road Logistics Solution
The JPP–RCS combines the strengths of the Dedicated Freight Corridor with the Indian Railways JPP–RCS framework.
The service provides an integrated logistics chain covering:
- Collection of goods
- Loading and unloading
- Scheduled rail transportation
- Road-based first- and last-mile connectivity
- Final delivery
This model is expected to provide customers with a more dependable and efficient option for long-distance parcel movement.
Digital Booking Available Up to 180 Days in Advance
The service is supported by a digital booking mechanism through the Virtual Aggregation Platform (VAP) of the Freight Business Development portal.
Customers can book parcel space online up to 180 days in advance.
The digital platform also supports:
- Online parcel booking
- Shipment tracking
- Integration with aggregator websites
- Better planning of logistics requirements
This is expected to make the parcel booking process more convenient and transparent for customers and logistics operators.

Return-Trip Discounts to Improve Parcel Capacity Utilisation
Under JPP–RCS, freight charges will be calculated based on the carrying capacity of the Vehicle Parcel (VP) and levied according to the applicable JP Scale notified by the Railway Board.
The service also provides return-trip discounts to encourage better utilisation of parcel capacity on both legs of the journey.
DFCCIL Estimates ₹76 Crore Annual Revenue Potential
The new service is expected to generate approximately ₹21 lakh per round trip.
With regular operations, the service has an estimated annual revenue potential of around ₹76 crore.
The initiative is also expected to create new business opportunities for parcel operators, logistics service providers, e-commerce companies and other freight users looking for faster and dependable long-distance transportation.

Parcel Movement to Expand Beyond Ahmedabad
The launch of JPP–RCS also expands the reach of parcel transportation on the Dedicated Freight Corridor.
Until now, existing parcel services through NMGHS have primarily catered to destinations up to the Ahmedabad region. With the introduction of JPP–RCS on the Dedicated Freight Corridor, parcel traffic can now move beyond Ahmedabad.
This will enable Surat–Mumbai-bound parcels to be transported through the service and further connected to their destinations.
JPP–RCS to Support Shift from Road to Rail
The new service also supports the broader objective of shifting suitable long-distance freight transportation from road to rail.
By combining rail transportation for long-haul movement with road connectivity for first- and last-mile delivery, JPP–RCS can help improve overall logistics efficiency.
The integrated model is expected to offer potential benefits such as:
- Better fuel efficiency
- Reduced road congestion
- More efficient long-distance freight movement
- Lower environmental impact
