PANAJI: Alok Kumar, a 1996 batch IPS officer from AGMUT cadre and Director General of Police (DGP) of Goa, held a meeting with the Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (GSCPCR) to strengthen collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing child safety and welfare across the state.
The interaction focused on improving coordination between law enforcement agencies and the Commission, while also promoting knowledge sharing and capacity building to address child protection issues more effectively.
Focus on Integrated Child Protection Response
During the meeting, officials discussed the need for a more integrated and coordinated approach in handling cases involving children.
Key areas of discussion included:
- Timely intervention in child protection cases
- Awareness and sensitisation initiatives
- Capacity building of officials
- Strengthening institutional support systems
- Enhanced cooperation between police and child rights authorities
The deliberations emphasized the importance of swift and sensitive responses to matters concerning the safety, rights and well-being of children.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of the Goa Police and the Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights to work closely together in safeguarding children and ensuring that their rights are protected.
The collaboration is expected to further strengthen the state’s child protection framework and improve institutional mechanisms for prevention, intervention and support.
