Ladakh: Siachen Base Camp power grid project is set to create history as the world’s highest battlefield will be connected to the electricity grid for the first time by September 15, 2026. The landmark project will also bring reliable grid power to the remote regions of Zanskar and Nubra, marking a major step in improving infrastructure, development, and strategic connectivity in Ladakh.
Details of Siachen Base Camp Power Grid Project
Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has directed officials to complete all major power transmission projects by September 15. Once completed, Siachen Base Camp will no longer depend mainly on diesel generators for electricity. Instead, it will receive a stable power supply through the national grid.
Zanskar and Nubra Also to Get First-Time Grid Connectivity
The project is not limited to Siachen. The remote regions of Zanskar and Nubra will also be connected to the power grid for the first time. Reliable electricity is expected to improve daily life by supporting schools, hospitals, communication services, tourism, and local businesses.
