New Delhi: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, leading a state delegation on a US visit, held a series of meetings with major technology companies and business organisations to explore partnerships in semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), skilling, healthcare and digital infrastructure.
On the third day of the visit, Patel and the Gujarat delegation met senior executives at Micron and Google. The Chief Minister also held a one-on-one meeting with Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas and interacted with members of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) in Silicon Valley.
The engagements are part of Gujarat’s broader efforts to attract technology-led investments and strengthen partnerships ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit-2027.
Micron Highlights Gujarat’s Support for Semiconductor Facility
During the delegation’s visit to Micron, Chairman Sanjay Mehrotra thanked the Gujarat government for facilitating the allocation of 20 acres of land for the company’s Sanand facility within a day.
Mehrotra also appreciated the state government’s proactive approach towards ensuring the early commencement of commercial production at the semiconductor facility.
Patel recalled the inauguration of Micron’s semiconductor facility at Sanand by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2026. He highlighted Gujarat’s growing role in India’s semiconductor ecosystem, particularly with Sanand and Dholera emerging as key locations for semiconductor facilities.
The discussions focused on Gujarat’s efforts to strengthen semiconductor manufacturing and attract further investments in advanced technology.
Google Explores AI and Youth Skilling Collaboration
The Gujarat delegation also visited Google, where officials provided an overview of the company’s activities and explored areas for potential collaboration with the state.
Google Vice President Chandu Thota expressed interest in working with Gujarat in several areas, including:
- AI training for teachers and students
- Youth skill development
- AI applications in agriculture
- Analysis of crop patterns
- Use of soil and weather data
- Data security and digital infrastructure
The discussions also covered the potential use of Google Workspace Sovereign AI for data security in collaboration with the Gujarat government.
The proposed areas of cooperation could support the state’s efforts to equip young people with AI-related skills while also exploring technology-driven solutions for agriculture.
Perplexity CEO Discusses Engineering and R&D Presence in Gujarat
Patel also held a one-on-one meeting with Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas.
The discussions focused on the possibility of establishing a Perplexity presence in Gujarat for engineering and research and development (R&D) activities.
Potential data infrastructure opportunities were also discussed. Srinivas expressed interest in exploring the possibility of a data centre or a hybrid setup involving a developer and Perplexity in Gujarat.
Such a collaboration could further strengthen the state’s emerging technology ecosystem and create opportunities in AI, engineering and research.
TiE Explores Healthcare and AI Skilling Opportunities
The Chief Minister also met members of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) in Silicon Valley.
Discussions focused on potential partnerships in healthcare and skill development. TiE members expressed interest in supporting Gujarat in areas such as:
- Training healthcare workers
- Strengthening healthcare capabilities
- Youth skill development
- Use of AI tools for training and education
TiE was established in Silicon Valley in 1992 by successful entrepreneurs, corporate executives and senior professionals with roots in the Sindh region.
Gujarat Targets Technology Partnerships Ahead of Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2027
The meetings with Micron, Google, Perplexity and TiE reflect Gujarat’s efforts to deepen engagement with global technology and business communities.
The delegation’s discussions covered a wide range of emerging sectors, including:
- Semiconductors and advanced manufacturing
- Artificial intelligence
- Engineering and R&D
- Data centres and digital infrastructure
- Agriculture technology
- Youth skilling
- Healthcare
- Data security
The state is seeking to translate these discussions into concrete investment, technology and skill-development partnerships as it prepares for the Vibrant Gujarat Summit-2027.
Chief Secretary M.K. Das, senior state government secretaries and members of the Gujarat delegation also participated in the meetings with Patel.
