In a significant development, Ashish Kumar Singh, a 2004 batch IPS officer of Odisha cadre, has been appointed as the new Inspector General (IG) of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on a deputation basis.
Singh’s tenure will last for a period of five years, according to an official notification.
The Indo-Tibetan Border Police is a central paramilitary force tasked with securing India’s border with China in the mountainous regions of the Himalayan ranges. The ITBP plays a crucial role in maintaining border security, handling emergencies, and providing a dedicated presence in some of the most challenging terrains in the country.
