Ranchi: Jharkhand has the potential to establish its cinema on the global stage, renowned film editor Aseem Sinha said at a “Meet the Mentor” programme organised by the Jharkhand Film Development Corporation Limited (JFDCL).
Sinha, who chaired the jury for the non-feature film category at the 72nd National Film Awards, stressed the need to strengthen cinema infrastructure from cities to rural areas.
Focus on Infrastructure and Seed Funding
Sinha said financial support alone cannot build a strong film industry. Jharkhand also needs better cinema infrastructure, rural film culture, seed funding for local filmmakers and a strong script evaluation system.
He said government efforts could help Jharkhand develop a more self-reliant film industry by drawing lessons from the growth of South Indian cinema.
Sinha also emphasised the importance of local languages, art and talent in taking Jharkhand films to international audiences.
