Patna: The Patna High Court gets 7 new judges after seven newly appointed judges took the oath of office and secrecy on June 15, 2026. The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Chief Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai. With these appointments, the working strength of the Patna High Court has increased from 37 to 44 judges, a major step towards improving the delivery of justice in Bihar.
Patna High Court Judges Appointment: Seven New Judges Take Oath
The oath ceremony was held at the Patna High Court on Monday. Chief Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai administered the oath to all seven newly appointed judges.

The appointments were officially notified by the central government following approval from the president of India. The newly appointed judges are:
- Ranjan Kumar Jha
- Kumar Manish
- Raj Kumar
- Rana Vikram Singh
- Vikash Kumar
- Girijish Kumar
- Alok Kumar
Among them, three have been appointed as permanent judges, while four have been appointed as additional judges for a period of two years.
Patna High Court Judges Appointment: Strength Increases to 44
Before these appointments, the Patna High Court was functioning with 37 judges against a sanctioned strength of 53. After the induction of seven new judges, the court’s working strength has increased to 44. However, nine judicial positions are still vacant.
