Shillong: In a significant push to encourage youth participation in India’s civil services, the Meghalaya government has launched the CM-INSPIRE scheme, offering financial assistance to aspirants who clear stages of the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE).
Under the scheme, candidates who qualify the Preliminary Examination will receive ₹50,000, while those clearing the Mains stage will be awarded ₹1 lakh. The initiative aims to ease financial constraints and motivate more candidates from the state to pursue careers in the civil services.
Addressing Declining Representation
Announcing the scheme, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma highlighted the declining representation of Meghalaya’s youth in the civil services and emphasized the need for targeted intervention.
“My dear young aspirants of Meghalaya, today marks an important step in supporting the dreams of our youth. For many years, our representation in the civil services has declined. Today, we take a decisive step to change that with the launch of CM-INSPIRE,” he said.
Reducing Financial Barriers for Aspirants
The Chief Minister underlined that the scheme is designed to reduce the financial burden faced by aspirants, ensuring that economic challenges do not hinder deserving candidates.
“The government stands firmly with you on this journey. Believe in yourselves and stay committed to your goals,” Sangma added, encouraging aspirants to remain focused and determined.
Application Process Through MATI Portal
Officials stated that eligible candidates can apply for the financial assistance through the Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute (MATI) portal. The institute will serve as the nodal agency for processing applications and disbursing the incentives.
