Karnal (Haryana): In a shocking incident that has left dozens of aspirants distressed, a coaching institute in Karnal allegedly shut down overnight after collecting lakhs of rupees from students under the promise of guaranteed government jobs.
The institute, which provided coaching for competitive exams like UPSC and SSC, is now under police investigation following complaints of fraud and cheating.
Closure Announced Through WhatsApp Message
According to students, panic set in late on April 16 when they received a WhatsApp message around 9:50 PM informing them that the institutes—“Maluka IAS” and “Aspiration Academy”—were being shut down.
The sudden announcement raised alarm, prompting students to gather outside the institute premises the next morning.

Institute Found Deserted Overnight
When students reached the coaching centre on April 17, they found the premises completely empty, with no staff or management present.
Attempts to contact the institute’s founder Niten Tanwar, manager Gurpreet Kaur, and receptionist Pavitra largely failed, as most phones were switched off. Students claimed that even after speaking to the founder, they did not receive any clear assurance.
Pre-Planned Exit Suspected
Local sources revealed that the institute’s belongings were removed overnight on April 16, indicating a premeditated shutdown.
Students allege that the institute had been collecting hefty fees under the promise of securing government jobs or offering refunds in case of failure.
Hefty Fees Charged with ‘Job Guarantee’ Promise
As per the complaints:
- UPSC coaching fees ranged between ₹95,000 and ₹1.5 lakh
- SSC coaching fees ranged between ₹25,000 and ₹1.25 lakh
Students who paid higher amounts were reportedly promised a full refund if they failed to secure selection, a claim now at the centre of the fraud allegations.
Students Accuse Institute of Cheating
Several students, including Akanshi, Sheetal, Muskan, Khushi, Hrithik, Anshul, Tannu, Mahak, and Rajni, have accused the institute of exploiting their aspirations for government jobs.
They claim they were lured with false promises and are now being denied refunds.
Operator Cites Financial Losses
The founder has reportedly attributed the closure to heavy financial losses. While he initially stated that refunds may not be possible, some students claim he later assured them that the money would be returned within a few days.
However, the lack of clarity has further fueled anger and distrust among affected students.
Police Complaint Filed, Investigation Underway
The aggrieved students have lodged a complaint at the Civil Lines Police Station in Karnal, demanding strict legal action against those responsible.
Police have initiated an investigation into the alleged fraud, and efforts are underway to trace the accused and assess the extent of financial irregularities.
Conclusion
The incident highlights growing concerns around unregulated coaching centres and misleading promises made to aspirants. As the investigation progresses, students are hoping for justice and recovery of their hard-earned money.
