Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on September 5 visited the SDRF State Command Centre at the Home Guard Office in Bhopal to review the flood and heavy rainfall situation across Madhya Pradesh.

The Chief Minister assessed ongoing relief and rescue operations in affected areas, monitored the administration’s response and issued necessary directions. He also interacted directly with people from several affected areas.

Over 2,783 People Rescued in One Month

Dr Yadav said rainfall has continued across Madhya Pradesh, with most parts of the state receiving adequate rainfall. Western Madhya Pradesh, however, is yet to receive the same level of rainfall.

He said SDRF and NDRF teams remain deployed in vulnerable areas and are responding to emergencies. Over the past month, rescue teams have helped save more than 2,783 people.

The Chief Minister also noted that no major emergency situation had arisen during the previous two to four days, indicating some improvement in the immediate situation.

Rescue Teams Remain on Alert

Dr Yadav praised the police, SDRF and NDRF personnel for their response to sudden flooding. Their preparedness and quick action helped rescue people as well as livestock from affected areas.

Flooding can cause water to rise rapidly, particularly in low-lying areas, creating serious challenges for residents and local administrations. The Chief Minister said the police and rescue teams had handled these situations effectively.

He appreciated the efforts of the personnel working on the ground and said their readiness had helped prevent greater loss of life.

More Rain Expected, CM Urges Caution

With rainfall expected to continue for a few more days, Dr Yadav urged people to remain alert and follow safety advisories issued by local authorities.

The state government is continuing to monitor rainfall, water levels and conditions in vulnerable areas through the control room and field administration. Rescue teams have also been kept ready to respond wherever an emergency arises.

The Chief Minister said the review at the SDRF State Command Centre was aimed at ensuring that the administration remains prepared during the remaining days of the rainy season.

The government’s continued monitoring and deployment of specialised rescue teams highlight the importance of quick coordination during extreme weather events, particularly in flood-prone and low-lying areas of Madhya Pradesh.
