Ahmedabad: NLC India Limited has announced a significant development in the energy storage sector through its wholly owned subsidiary, NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL). According to a regulatory filing made on September 4, 2026, with the National Stock Exchange of India and BSE Limited, NIRL has emerged as the successful bidder for a major standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Gujarat.
The project was awarded through a competitive tariff-based tender floated by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL).
NIRL to Develop 275 MW/550 MWh BESS Facility
Under the awarded project, NIRL will develop a 275 MW/550 MWh standalone BESS facility in Gujarat.
GUVNL has issued a Letter of Intent (LoI) to NIRL, formally confirming the company as the successful bidder for the project.
