Bhopal: On the occasion of Ganga Dussehra, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav visited the historic Devi Sagar Lake in Dhar district and performed Shramdaan (voluntary labour) as part of the state’s ongoing “Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan”.
He also inaugurated the desilting and deepening work of the lake and offered prayers, sending a strong message on community participation in water conservation.
Water Conservation as a People’s Movement
CM Mohan Yadav emphasized that water conservation is not just a government responsibility but a collective social mission. He urged citizens to actively participate in reviving traditional water bodies and conserving water resources across the state.
He said that extensive efforts are underway in Madhya Pradesh to protect and rejuvenate lakes, ponds, and other water sources through public involvement.

Historical Importance of Devi Sagar Lake
Devi Sagar Lake is one of the key water structures among Dhar’s historic “Saadhe Barah Talab” system. Built as part of an advanced traditional water management network developed during the rule of the Paramara and later the Pawar dynasties, the lake continues to play a vital role in water supply.
