Bhopal: In a major push toward development and public welfare, the Cabinet led by Mohan Yadav approved projects worth over ₹26,800 crore during its meeting held on April 28 in Bhopal.
The decisions span across infrastructure, education, healthcare, irrigation, and social welfare, reflecting a comprehensive roadmap for the state’s growth over the coming years.
₹26,311 Crore Sanctioned for Infrastructure Development
A major highlight of the Cabinet meeting was the approval of ₹26,311 crore for construction and development works under the Public Works Department for the period 2026–2031 (16th Finance Commission cycle).
Key allocations include:
- ₹6,180.57 crore for office infrastructure, maintenance, and repairs
- ₹6,925 crore under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund
- ₹1,680 crore for maintenance of government residential and non-residential buildings
- ₹6,500 crore for land acquisition compensation
- ₹5,000 crore for renewal of major and district roads
- ₹25.50 crore for grants and decree payments to the Indian Roads Congress
These projects aim to significantly strengthen the state’s physical infrastructure and connectivity.

Major Scholarship Hike for Backward Class Students
In a landmark decision, the Cabinet approved amendments to the Student Hostel Scheme (Chhatragrih Yojana-2005).
- Monthly scholarship increased from ₹1,550 to ₹10,000
- Scheme benefits students from Backward Classes studying in higher education institutions in Delhi
- 100 students annually to benefit (50 undergraduate and 50 postgraduate)
- Existing beneficiaries will continue to receive support till course completion
Eligibility requires students to qualify for the Post-Matric Scholarship and meet prescribed income criteria.
₹155.82 Crore Irrigation Project to Benefit 24 Villages
The Cabinet approved ₹155.82 crore for the Lakhundar High-Pressure Micro-Irrigation Project in Shajapur.
- Irrigation coverage: 9,200 hectares
- Beneficiary villages: 24 (17 in Shajapur, 7 in Ujjain district’s Tarana tehsil)
- Water usage: 24.37 MCM from Lakhundar River reservoir near Maksi
The project is expected to significantly boost agricultural productivity in the region.
Boost to Medical Education and Healthcare Infrastructure
Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal
The Cabinet granted a revised administrative sanction of ₹79.16 crore (plus ex-post facto approval of ₹14.08 crore) for expanding postgraduate medical facilities at Gandhi Medical College.
Key additions include:
- Radiotherapy OPD
- LINAC machine bunker
- Bone Marrow Transplant Unit
- Cath Lab
Shyam Shah Medical College, Rewa
For Shyam Shah Medical College, the Cabinet approved a revised ₹174.80 crore (up from ₹164.49 crore) for expansion of the Super Specialty Hospital.
₹80.41 Crore for Electrification of Anganwadis
To improve grassroots infrastructure, the Cabinet sanctioned ₹80.41 crore for electrification of 38,901 Anganwadi centres across the state.
- Total Anganwadis in MP: 97,882
- Facilities post-electrification: lighting, fans, coolers, smart TVs, water purifiers
- Aim: Better learning and care environment for children
