The investigation into the alleged NEET-UG paper leak has intensified, with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carrying out fresh raids in Pune and Latur after crucial disclosures made during the interrogation of arrested lecturer and alleged mastermind P. V. Kulkarni.
According to sources, Kulkarni’s questioning has led investigators to two additional lecturers suspected of playing a key role in leaking the medical entrance examination paper. Search operations are underway at multiple locations connected to the accused as the agency broadens its inquiry.
Two More Lecturers Under Scanner
Sources said that along with lecturer Manisha Waghmare, two other lecturers allegedly worked closely with Kulkarni in facilitating the leak.
Investigators believe the accused were associated with the National Testing Agency (NTA) during the conduct of the NEET examination process.
Officials are now attempting to trace the two absconding lecturers believed to be part of the broader leak network.
Students Allegedly Made to Write Questions and Answers Before Exam
During the investigation, the CBI reportedly uncovered evidence that at a Pune-based institute, Kulkarni, Manisha Waghmare and the other lecturers allegedly instructed students to write down various questions and their correct answers in notebooks before the examination.
Investigators suspect this method was used to distribute leaked exam content to selected candidates.
Bank Account Frozen as Financial Trail Emerges
The probe has also revealed suspected financial transactions linked to the scam.
Sources said a new bank account was allegedly opened in the name of Manisha Waghmare, through which lakhs of rupees were transferred by students and intermediaries.
The CBI has frozen the account as part of its ongoing effort to trace money flows connected to the alleged operation.
Raids Continue in Pune and Latur
Searches and raids are continuing in Pune and Latur to gather documentary and digital evidence, including bank records, electronic devices and communication data.
Investigators are focusing on identifying the full extent of the network and determining whether additional individuals were involved.
Background: What Is the NEET Paper Leak Case?
The NEET-UG controversy emerged after allegations that confidential examination questions were illegally accessed and distributed to selected candidates before the national medical entrance test.
The case triggered widespread concern over the integrity of one of India’s largest competitive examinations.
Following complaints and preliminary findings from several states, the Government of India transferred the investigation to the CBI.
Since then, the agency has arrested multiple accused, including alleged middlemen, coaching operators and lecturers suspected of participating in an organized network that leaked exam material and collected money from candidates.
Wider Concerns Over Examination Security
The ongoing investigation has brought renewed focus to issues of examination security, transparency and the need for stronger safeguards in the conduct of national-level entrance tests.
The CBI is continuing to examine financial transactions, digital communication records and the possible involvement of insiders connected to examination centres and institutions.
