According to police, after committing the crime, the accused fled the scene, leaving behind only a gamchha (traditional cloth). With virtually no immediate leads available, investigators turned to the specially trained canine unit.
Mary was brought to the crime scene and was made to sniff the abandoned cloth. Within moments, the highly trained tracking dog picked up the scent and began following the trail.
Mary’s Tracking Led Police Directly to the Suspect
Demonstrating exceptional concentration and endurance, Mary guided the police team over several kilometres across difficult terrain before leading them directly to the suspect’s village.
The trail provided investigators with a crucial breakthrough. Based on the location identified by Mary and other evidence collected thereafter, police intensified their search operation.
The investigation ultimately culminated in a police encounter near Nagariya Kazi village on the Babrala–Rajpura Road, where the accused, identified as Sandeep, was arrested following an exchange of fire. During the operation, one police constable also sustained injuries.
Police officials credited Mary’s tracking ability as a key factor that significantly accelerated the investigation and helped officers close in on the accused.
SP Krishan Kumar Bishnoi Announces DGP-Level Recommendation
SP Bishnoi announced that an official report highlighting Mary’s extraordinary contribution has been forwarded to senior police headquarters, formally recommending her for a Director General of Police (DGP)-level commendation.
