POWERGRID Wins PMIS Award for ‘Innovation in Exit Pathways’ for 6,265 Internship Opportunities 

Maharatna PSU recognised for creating employment pathways for PM Internship Scheme trainees through skill development and coordination with the Power Sector Skill Council.

Gurugram: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power, has been conferred the PMIS Recognition of Partner Company Award in the ‘Innovation in Exit Pathways’ category.

The award was presented by Dr. Pallavi Jain Govil, Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), at a ceremony organised by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, on Friday, August 14, 2026.

The award was received by Dr. Yatindra Dwivedi, Director (Personnel), POWERGRID, along with Mr. B. K. Mundu, Executive Director-HRD, and the POWERGRID team. Mr. Anshuman Patnaik, Additional Secretary, and Mr. D. Balamurugan, Joint Secretary, were also present at the ceremony.

POWERGRID Recognised for Innovation in PM Internship Exit Pathways

The recognition highlights POWERGRID’s efforts to create better employment opportunities for young people after completion of their internships.

POWERGRID has worked with the Power Sector Skill Council (PSSC) to connect PMIS interns with potential employment opportunities in the power transmission sector.

The company has uploaded details of PMIS interns who completed their training at POWERGRID on the Rozgaar portal of PSSC. Agencies working in the power transmission sector have also been suitably informed about available exit pathways.

POWERGRID Offers 6,265 Internship Opportunities Under PMIS

The Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) was launched in December 2024, and POWERGRID joined the scheme as a partner company on a pan-India basis.

Till December 2025, the company actively participated in Pilot Rounds 1 and 2 and offered a total of 6,265 internship opportunities under PMIS.

The initiative is aimed at helping interns gain industry-relevant skills and improve their employment prospects after completing their training.

Rozgaar Portal Supports Employment Opportunities

To strengthen employment opportunities for PMIS interns, POWERGRID coordinated with the Power Sector Skill Council (PSSC).

Details of interns who underwent training with POWERGRID have been uploaded on the Rozgaar portal of PSSC.

The company has also informed agencies operating in the power transmission sector about potential exit pathways for trained candidates.

This approach enables interns to connect their training and skills with potential employment opportunities within the broader power transmission industry.

Exit Pathways Extended to Apprentices and Skill Development Trainees

POWERGRID’s employment pathway initiative is not limited to PMIS interns.

The company’s efforts also cover candidates undergoing:

  • Apprenticeship training under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961
  • POWERGRID’s skill development initiatives
  • Training in power transmission line tower erection and stringing

By linking training programmes with employment opportunities, POWERGRID is seeking to create a stronger talent pipeline for the power transmission sector.

POWERGRID Strengthens India’s Transmission Infrastructure

As of July 31, 2026, POWERGRID has commissioned and is operating 292 substations across the country.

The company’s transmission network includes more than 1,86,889 circuit kilometres (ckm) of transmission lines and 6,37,016 MVA of transformation capacity.

The combination of technology adoption, automation and digitalisation has supported the company’s operational efficiency while strengthening the reliability of its transmission network.
