Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the transformative potential of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative during his remarks at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar delivered Modi’s message, highlighting India’s contributions to the SCO’s economic agenda.
Modi underscored the importance of resilient supply chains, stating that ‘Make in India’ could spur global economic growth and democratize the global economy. India, with its 130,000 startups including 100 unicorns, offers valuable experience for others, he noted.
Addressing the digital era, Modi stressed the significance of technology in development and security, emphasizing the need for trust and transparency, especially in AI and cybersecurity.
Furthermore, Modi highlighted India’s initiatives in traditional medicine and digital infrastructure, aiming for international cooperation within the SCO framework.
In his concluding remarks, Modi extended best wishes for China’s upcoming presidency of the SCO and reiterated India’s commitment to deepening cooperation with all partners.
India joined the SCO in June 2017 and continues to play an active role in enhancing regional cooperation and connectivity.
