New Delhi: The Department of Defence Production (DDP), Ministry of Defence, has notified the sixth Positive Indigenisation List (PIL) comprising 405 strategically important defence items, with an estimated business potential of ₹3,070 crore.
The latest list is aimed at expanding domestic defence manufacturing and reducing dependence on imports under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
The items include Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), sub-systems, sub-assemblies, spares, components and raw materials used across a wide range of defence platforms and systems.
What The sixth PIL includes
- 16 items of the Indian Coast Guard
- 389 items of Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs)
- Components and systems for aircraft and helicopters
- Armoured vehicle components
- Warship-related systems
- Missile system components
- Defence electronics
- Critical ammunition-related equipment
- Spares and raw materials
Indigenous Manufacturing Across Major Defence Platforms
The newly notified items cover equipment associated with several major defence platforms and systems.
These include:
- Air platforms
- Advanced Light Helicopter
- Light Utility Helicopter
- Su-30MKI
- Light Combat Aircraft
- AL-31FP Engine
Armoured platforms
- T-72
- T-90
- BMP-II
Missile systems
- Konkurs-M
- Invar
- MRSAM
Defence electronics
- Radars
- Sonars
- Fire control systems
- Satellite communication systems
The list also includes High Explosive Anti-Tank ammunition and other critical defence equipment.
Industry and MSMEs to Get New Opportunities
The detailed list has been made available on the SRIJAN Defence Portal, with each item carrying an indicative timeline for indigenisation.
Once successfully developed within India, these items will be procured from domestic industry.
The DPSUs and Indian Coast Guard will pursue indigenisation through multiple routes, including the Make procedure and in-house development, with participation from Indian companies, particularly MSMEs and start-ups.

SRIJAN Portal Has Offered Over 33,000 Items
The DDP launched the SRIJAN Defence Portal in August 2020 to provide a platform through which DPSUs and Service Headquarters can offer defence items to Indian industry for indigenous development and production.
As of June 2026, the portal had facilitated the offer of more than 33,000 defence items for indigenisation by DPSUs and Service Headquarters.
This includes 5,012 items notified under the first five Positive Indigenisation Lists.
Over 15,700 Items Already Indigenised
The government said the indigenisation drive has already resulted in substantial import substitution.
Key figures from the initiative include:
- 15,700+: Defence items successfully indigenised
- ₹9,000 crore: Estimated import substitution value over the past five years
- ₹10,000 crore: Approximate procurement orders placed by DPSUs with domestic vendors, including in-house production, up to March 2026
- 33,000+: Defence items offered for indigenisation through SRIJAN up to June 2026
The sixth Positive Indigenisation List is expected to further deepen domestic defence production while creating additional opportunities for Indian industry across the defence supply chain.
