Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government on Saturday carried out a significant administrative reshuffle involving several IAS officers, appointing new District Collectors in five districts and new Corporation Commissioners in three major cities. The reshuffle also included key postings in the Housing and Urban Development Department and Greater Chennai Corporation.
The transfer order, issued by the state government, aims to strengthen district administration and urban governance across Tamil Nadu through the redeployment of senior IAS officers to strategic positions.
R. Kirlosh Kumar Appointed Principal Secretary
As part of the reshuffle, R. Kirlosh Kumar has been appointed as Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, one of the state’s key administrative portfolios overseeing urban infrastructure, housing projects and city development initiatives.

Five Districts Get New Collectors
The government appointed new District Collectors in Perambalur, Ariyalur, Chennai, Tiruvallur and Ramanathapuram districts.
Perambalur
Sharanya Ari has been posted as the new District Collector of Perambalur.
Ariyalur
N. Mirunalini, who was serving as the District Collector of Perambalur, has been transferred and appointed as the District Collector of Ariyalur.
Chennai
S. Malathi Helen has been posted as the new District Collector of Chennai, one of the most significant district assignments in the state administration.
Ramanathapuram
M. Sivaguru Prabakaran, who was serving as the Corporation Commissioner of Coimbatore, has been appointed as the District Collector of Ramanathapuram.
Tiruvallur
S. Kavitha has been posted as the new District Collector of Tiruvallur.
Three Major Cities Get New Corporation Commissioners
The reshuffle also brought changes in the leadership of municipal corporations in Tiruchi, Madurai and Coimbatore.
Tiruchi Corporation
Veer Pratap Singh, currently serving as Deputy Secretary to Government (Protocol), Public Department, has been appointed as the Corporation Commissioner of Tiruchi.
Madurai Corporation
Gaurav Kumar has been posted as the new Corporation Commissioner of Madurai.
Coimbatore Corporation
Katta Ravi Teja, who is serving as Regional Deputy Commissioner, Greater Chennai Corporation, has been appointed as the Corporation Commissioner of Coimbatore.
Posting in Greater Chennai Corporation
The reshuffle also includes a key posting within the Greater Chennai Corporation.
Chitra Vijayan, presently serving as the Corporation Commissioner of Madurai, has been appointed as Regional Deputy Commissioner (North), Greater Chennai Corporation.
Focus on Administrative and Urban Governance
The latest transfers are part of the Tamil Nadu government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen district-level administration and urban governance through strategic deployment of IAS officers. The appointments place experienced administrators in key district and municipal positions at a time when urban infrastructure development, civic services and public administration remain among the state’s governance priorities.
With five districts receiving new Collectors and three major municipal corporations getting new Commissioners, the reshuffle is expected to have a significant impact on local administration and implementation of government programmes across Tamil Nadu.
