Bhopal/Tamil Nadu: Amid the intensifying electoral battle in Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav launched a high-energy campaign in support of the NDA alliance, targeting the ruling DMK and its allies while pitching for a “double-engine” government in the state.
Arriving on April 19, Yadav addressed public rallies in Rasipuram (Namakkal district) and Avinashi (Tiruppur district), seeking votes for NDA candidates, including Dr. Premkumar and Union Minister L. Murugan.
Call to ‘Overthrow Corrupt Government’
Addressing large gatherings, Mohan Yadav urged voters to “teach a lesson” to what he described as a corrupt and looting regime.
He asserted that public sentiment is strongly in favour of the NDA and predicted the formation of a BJP-led government in the state under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Attack on Opposition Over Women’s Reservation
In Rasipuram, while campaigning for Dr. Premkumar, Yadav accused opposition parties including DMK, Congress, and TMC of obstructing the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.
He claimed the opposition opposed the legislation to prevent women—especially those from modest backgrounds—from rising to positions of power in Parliament and state assemblies.
According to him, the move denied opportunities for women to emerge as leaders akin to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, popularly known as ‘Amma’.
‘Dynastic Politics vs Empowerment’
Mohan Yadav sharply criticised the DMK and Congress, accusing them of promoting dynastic politics and ignoring the aspirations of common citizens.
“The idea of a poor person rising to power is unacceptable to these parties,” he said, adding that the election is a fight against corruption, dynasty politics, and injustice to women.
He also alleged that under Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, corruption and criminal elements have flourished in the state.
Pitch for ‘Double-Engine’ Government
Highlighting the NDA’s governance model, Yadav said a BJP-AIADMK “double-engine” government would accelerate development in Tamil Nadu.
He pointed to local issues such as electricity shortages and lack of clean drinking water in Rasipuram, blaming the state government for inefficiency.
Tamil Nadu’s Pride and National Role
Emphasising Tamil Nadu’s contribution to the nation, Mohan Yadav said the state holds a special place in Prime Minister Modi’s vision.
He cited prominent personalities from the state, including former President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, scientist C. V. Raman, and author R. K. Narayan, as examples of Tamil Nadu’s rich legacy.
He also highlighted the Centre’s efforts in promoting Tamil language and culture, including the installation of the Sengol in the new Parliament building and the introduction of technical education in Tamil.

Roadshow in Avinashi, Strong Support for NDA
During a roadshow in Avinashi, campaigning for L. Murugan, Yadav said the NDA candidate is receiving overwhelming support.
He reiterated that the opposition’s stance on the women’s reservation bill has triggered public anger, which will reflect in the election results.
Cultural Connect: Traditional Attire and Local Cuisine
Apart from political speeches, Mohan Yadav also drew attention for his cultural outreach.
He was seen donning traditional South Indian attire and enjoying a meal served on a banana leaf, eating with his hands in accordance with local customs.
During the meal, he interacted with party workers and discussed electoral strategies, showcasing a blend of grassroots connect and political planning.
Tamil Nadu Central to India’s Growth Story
The Chief Minister said Tamil Nadu plays a crucial role in India’s development journey, invoking spiritual and cultural links such as Rameswaram and its historical significance.
He added that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India is progressing rapidly, and Tamil Nadu will remain a key partner in this growth.

A High-Stakes Political Battle
As campaigning intensifies, Mohan Yadav positioned the election as a decisive battle between the NDA’s development agenda and what he termed as the opposition’s dynastic and anti-women politics.
With rallies, roadshows, and a distinctive campaign style, his visit has added momentum to the NDA’s efforts in Tamil Nadu, making the upcoming polls a closely watched political contest.
