Lucknow: A major cabinet meeting chaired by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was held in Lucknow on Monday, where 28 out of 29 proposals were approved. The meeting covered key decisions related to infrastructure, industry, education, sports, agriculture, and governance reforms.
One proposal related to madarsa policy was deferred, while several landmark decisions were cleared, including the revival of the Data Centre Policy and the renaming of Shahjahanpur’s Jalalabad.
Data Centre Policy Revived to Boost Digital Infrastructure
The cabinet approved the revival of the Data Centre Policy, which had previously lapsed. The move is aimed at strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s position as a major digital and IT hub.
Key highlights include:
- Formation of a Mission Directorate headed by the Chief Secretary
- Establishment of an Empowerment Committee
- ₹1000 crore startup fund allocation (₹400 crore by AKTU)
- Increased support for incubation and startup ecosystem
Officials said the decision will significantly boost technology investment and digital infrastructure in the state.
Uttar Pradesh Startup Mission Gets Major Push
The cabinet also approved the creation of the Uttar Pradesh Startup Mission, aimed at promoting innovation and entrepreneurship across the state.
Support structure includes:
- ₹10 lakh assistance for prototype development
- ₹15–50 lakh capital support for startups
- ₹40 lakh annual grant for incubator operations
- Strengthening of incubation ecosystem under a registered society model
The initiative is expected to create a strong startup ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh.
Jalalabad Renamed as Parshurampuri in Shahjahanpur
One of the key decisions taken in the cabinet meeting was the approval to rename Jalalabad in Shahjahanpur district as Parshurampuri.
Cabinet Minister Suresh Khanna said the decision was taken following approval from the central government. The area is believed to be associated with Lord Parshuram, making the renaming culturally significant.
Major Boost for Animal Husbandry Sector
The cabinet also approved the Chief Minister Livestock Risk Insurance Scheme, aimed at improving animal health security and rural livelihoods.
Key provisions include:
- Insurance coverage for cattle, buffaloes, goats, sheep, horses, and mules
- Government subsidy covering 85% of premium cost
- Central and state share: 51% and 34% respectively
- Compensation based on fixed livestock valuation
Officials said the scheme will support farmers and strengthen dairy and livestock economy in the state.
Employment and Education Initiatives Approved
Labour Minister Anil Rajbhar announced major approvals in the education and labour sector, including:
- Free land allocation for ESIC Medical College in Varanasi
- 100-bed ESIC hospitals in Gorakhpur and Moradabad
- Reservation of 50% seats for workers’ children in Varanasi medical college
The Varanasi project will include a 13-acre medical college campus aimed at improving healthcare and education access for workers.
Sports Talent Gets Direct Recruitment Opportunity
In a major decision, the cabinet approved direct recruitment for medal-winning athletes at national and international levels.
Key provisions:
- Direct jobs without Public Service Commission process
- Inclusion of Olympic, Asian Games, and Paralympic medalists
- Recruitment for posts including sports officers and youth welfare officers
This move aims to encourage sports talent and provide career stability to athletes.
Approval for New Universities and Higher Education Expansion
The cabinet also cleared proposals for establishing new universities, including:
- Maharishi Yogi International Agricultural University in Kanpur (Billhaur)
- Anglo Sanskrit College, Fatehpur university status approval
- Ajay Kumar Garg University in Ghaziabad
These institutions aim to strengthen higher education infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh.
