Patna: Bihar has delivered an impressive performance in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2025 results, with 24 candidates from the state successfully clearing the prestigious exam. Among them, Muzaffarpur’s Raghav Jhunjhunwala emerged as the state topper by securing an outstanding All India Rank (AIR) 4.

The results, announced on March 6, 2026, revealed that Bihar’s representation among top rank holders has improved compared to last year, with five candidates from the state securing positions within the top 20 nationwide.

Raghav Jhunjhunwala Secures AIR 4

Raghav Jhunjhunwala, a resident of Saraiyaganj in Muzaffarpur, achieved the highest rank from Bihar by securing fourth place in the country.

Reacting to the result, Raghav expressed surprise and gratitude, saying he had focused primarily on consistent preparation rather than expecting a top rank. He credited his parents and teachers for their support throughout the journey.

His achievement has brought pride not only to his family but also to the entire state, highlighting Bihar’s continued presence among top UPSC performers.

Ujjwal Priyank Makes It to Top 10

Another notable performer from Bihar is Ujjwal Priyank from Vaishali, who secured All India Rank 10 and entered the national top 10 list.

His success further strengthened Bihar’s overall performance in this year’s civil services examination, reinforcing the state’s reputation for producing talented candidates for the country’s administrative services.

Inspirational Journey of Visually Impaired Candidate Ravi Raj

Among the most inspiring stories in this year’s results is that of Ravi Raj from Nawada, who secured AIR 20 despite being visually impaired.

Ravi began his educational journey while living in modest circumstances and continued to pursue his dream of joining the civil services with determination. He had previously cleared the exam with a rank of 182 and is currently undergoing training for the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) in Nagpur.

By improving his rank significantly this year, he has demonstrated that determination and resilience can overcome physical limitations.

Ayush Kumar’s Bold Career Choice

Ayush Kumar from Samastipur secured AIR 143 in the examination. His journey stands out because he made a major career shift while pursuing his dream.

A student of IIT Kharagpur, Ayush decided to leave his B.Tech program and also turned down a lucrative job opportunity at Samsung in order to prepare for the UPSC examination.

Coming from a humble background, his father runs a small grocery store in Tajpur. Ayush succeeded in his second attempt, making his family and community proud.

Akanksha Creates Her Own Identity

Akanksha, who secured AIR 301, also drew attention due to her background. She is the granddaughter of the late Brahmeshwar Mukhiya, founder of the Ranvir Sena.

A resident of Ara, Akanksha prepared for the examination while living in Delhi and cleared the civil services exam in her second attempt, securing selection to the Indian Revenue Service.

Her success marks a new chapter as she builds her own identity through academic achievement.

Juhi Das Shows Extraordinary Courage

Another remarkable story comes from Juhi Das of Kishanganj, who secured AIR 649.

Her journey was marked by emotional challenges, as her father passed away just ten days before her UPSC interview. Despite the personal loss, she continued with determination and appeared for the interview.

Juhi ultimately succeeded in her fourth attempt, demonstrating resilience and dedication under extremely difficult circumstances.

Bihar Improves Its Performance

The UPSC 2025 results indicate a significant improvement in Bihar’s performance compared to the previous year.

In 2024, only three candidates from the state had secured positions within the top 20. This year, the number has increased to five, reflecting the growing competitiveness of aspirants from the region.

Students from both urban and rural areas of the state have contributed to this success, highlighting the depth of talent across Bihar.

Inspiring the Next Generation

The success stories of candidates from Bihar continue to motivate thousands of young aspirants across the state who dream of entering the country’s civil services.

From top rank holders like Raghav Jhunjhunwala and Ujjwal Priyank to candidates who overcame personal and economic challenges, each journey highlights the power of determination, hard work, and perseverance.

These achievements once again demonstrate that talent from Bihar continues to play a strong role in shaping India’s future administrative leadership.
