Hyderabad, September 2024 – In a grand ceremony held at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), 207 officer trainees of the 76th batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS) completed their training, marking their official induction into the service. The Passing Out Parade was a moment of pride and achievement, not only for the young probationers but also for the nation they are set to serve.
The Hon’ble Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, graced the event as the chief guest, inspecting the Dikshant Parade and taking the salute. The parade was led by Achyut Ashok, IPS (P), from the Kerala Cadre, symbolizing the discipline and dedication that these future officers will bring to their roles. Nityanand Rai, in his address, inspired the probationers, reminding them of the immense responsibility that lies ahead in maintaining law and order, upholding justice, and serving the people.

Among the 207 probationers, 19 are from foreign police forces, including officer trainees from Bhutan and the Maldives, and 58 are women, marking the increasing diversity in the police service.
The ceremony was also a celebration of individual achievements, with several probationers recognized for their exceptional performance during the course of their training:
- Vishwajeet Souryan, IPS (P), Uttar Pradesh Cadre, was awarded the prestigious IPS Association’s Sword of Honour for being the Best Outdoor Probationer, showcasing excellence in physical training and field exercises.
- Ayush Yadav, IPS (P), Haryana Cadre, received the Tonk Cup for Equitation, displaying outstanding skills in horsemanship and a deep understanding of the role of mounted police units.
- Achyuth Ashok, IPS (P), Kerala Cadre, was presented with the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) Trophy for Police Sciences, in recognition of his expertise in forensic policing and his commitment to enhancing investigative methods.
- Sonali Mishra, IPS (P), Uttar Pradesh Cadre, was honored with the Manipur Cup for Law for her excellence in policing and jurisprudence, underscoring her legal acumen and understanding of law enforcement principles.
- Faisal Khan, IPS (P), Haryana Cadre, won the NCRB Trophy for Computer Studies, highlighting his proficiency in digital policing, a crucial skill in modern law enforcement.
Two officer trainees from the Royal Bhutan Police also shone at the event. Lt. Phuntsho Om took home both the Director SVPNPA Trophy for Best Lady Probationer in Outdoor Training and the Director’s Trophy for Best Foreign Officer Trainee in Phase-I. Lt. Kinga Tshering was awarded the BSF Trophy for Outdoor Subjects, demonstrating the international cooperation and shared learning within the academy.
The event was a significant milestone for all probationers, who will soon take up their postings across various states and regions, ready to address the diverse challenges of modern-day policing. Their journey from training at the academy to real-world service begins now, with the expectation that they will uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
