Shala Praveshotsav 2026: Gujarat Accelerates Tribal Education Transformation with Mass Enrolment and Welfare Schemes

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel highlights education transformation, with over 300 new enrolments, enhanced scholarships, modern school infrastructure, and welfare schemes for tribal students.

Gandhinagar: On the second day of Shala Praveshotsav 2026, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel emphasized that the education initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become a strong foundation for transforming tribal education and rural development across the state.

The Chief Minister stated that the programme has evolved into a large-scale social movement that is improving school enrolment, reducing dropout rates, and shaping the future of tribal children in Gujarat.

Over 300 Children Enrolled in Dahod Schools

During his visit to Dahod district, the Chief Minister personally enrolled more than 300 children in schools located in:

  • Moti Kharaj village
  • Rahdungari village
  • Gangarda village

He highlighted that earlier Shala Praveshotsav campaigns have helped produce successful professionals such as doctors, engineers, and pilots from tribal communities.

Education Infrastructure Transformed in Tribal Areas

The Chief Minister said that the state government has strengthened education infrastructure with:

  • Smart classrooms
  • Computer laboratories
  • Internet connectivity in schools
  • Modern science laboratories

These facilities are helping students from rural and tribal regions access modern education and compete at national levels.

Focus on Reintegrating Dropout Students

Special efforts are being made to bring dropout children back into the education system. Education department officials are visiting homes, understanding challenges, and encouraging families to re-enrol children in schools.

Parents have also been urged to actively participate in their children’s academic progress by maintaining regular communication with teachers.

Scholarships and Higher Education Support for Tribal Students

The government announced enhanced financial support schemes to promote higher education:

  • Scholarship income limit increased from ₹2.5 lakh to ₹6 lakh
  • Namo Lakshmi Yojana: Up to ₹50,000 assistance for girls in Classes 9–12
  • Namo Saraswati Yojana: Up to ₹50,000 assistance for Science stream students in Classes 11–12

Students completing Classes 11 and 12 in Science can receive cumulative support of up to ₹75,000 through combined schemes.

The Chief Minister also noted that access to engineering and medical colleges at the district level is helping tribal students pursue professional careers more easily.

Promotion of Sports and Women Empowerment

The Chief Minister highlighted achievements of tribal youth, especially girls excelling in sports. He mentioned that three girls from Kharaj village have reached the national level in rugby, bringing pride to the region.

Tribal youth are also being supported with:

  • Sports training
  • Equipment facilities
  • Nutrition support

Environmental Campaigns and Public Participation

The Chief Minister called for stronger public participation in environmental conservation through initiatives such as:

  • Catch the Rain Campaign for rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge
  • Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Campaign for tree plantation drives

He personally planted a sapling during the event and urged citizens to contribute to environmental protection.

Development in Tribal Belt and Infrastructure Growth

Member of Parliament Jasvantsinh Bhabhor praised the government’s efforts in improving education and infrastructure in tribal areas. He noted:

  • Decline in school dropout rates
  • Increased participation of girls in education
  • Growth in professional opportunities for tribal youth

He also highlighted major infrastructure initiatives, including:

  • A ₹23 crore English-medium school in Singvad
  • Over ₹5,000 crore investment for Narmada water projects in Dahod region

These developments are expected to boost irrigation, reduce migration, and strengthen rural livelihoods.

Community Engagement and School Interaction

The Chief Minister interacted with School Management Committees, gathering feedback from parents and stakeholders. He also guided them on improving education quality and expanding opportunities for students.

The event saw participation from local MLAs, district officials, teachers, students, and villagers, reflecting strong community involvement.

Shala Praveshotsav 2026 continues to emerge as a transformative initiative for tribal education in Gujarat. With improved infrastructure, scholarship support, and community participation, the programme is helping build a stronger educational foundation and creating new opportunities for rural youth.
