As India completes 75 years of Independence from British rule, the whole country came together to celebrate 15 August this year under the theme, ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. More than 20 crore houses hoisted the national flag and celebrations were held in every nook and corner of the country.
This year’s celebration of the 76th Independence Day in the two most prestigious institutions in the country, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), took a different turn as two special events were organised in each institution.
CELEBRATION IN LBSNAA
Unlike every year, this time the I-Day celebrations were not only conducted inside the academy but a 75 kilometer long run was organised for the first time in which the IAS Officer Trainees of 2021 batch, faculty members, and staff led by the Director of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration participated. The marathon was organised one day before the Independence Day.
The Academy also presented books, stationary and sweets to students of 75 government schools in and around Mussoorie. This rally is also an attempt to spread awareness on the role of quality education in the progress of the nation.
On the main day, 15 August, Director LBSNAA, Srinivas R Katikithala, hoisted the national flag and the faculty, staff and the officer trainees of IAS 2021 Batch saluted the patriotism and heroism of our freedom fighters and pledged to dedicate themselves to achieving “Vikasit Bharat” during the Amrit Kaal.
School children of three nearby schools also participated in the programme and an exhibition celebrating art and culture of India was also inaugurated.
CELEBRATION IN SVPNPA
The Police Academy in Hyderabad conducted an Independence Day Parade on 15 August. The parade was commanded by Mr. Shahansha K S, IPS Probationer of 74 RR borne on Kerala cadre. A total of 198 probationers including 44 lady officer trainees participated, displaying great coordination and discipline.
Eight platoons were commanded by IPS probationers of 74 RR including Tikam Singh Verma, Bindu Mani R N, Anjali Vishwakarma, Rajat Kumar Pal, Amrinder Singh, Vaibhav Bangar, Anmol Mittal and Keshvala Sanjaykumar S.
34 officials of the Academy were awarded Director’s Commendation Roll on the occasion of the Independence Day Parade.
Apart from this regular celebration in the police academy, a blood donation camp was organised where 32 IPS probationers, officers and staff donated their blood.
