Dhanbad: Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) organised a mass oath-taking programme at its Koyla Bhawan Headquarters under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), in accordance with the guidelines of the Government of India and the Ministry of Coal.
The programme was organised as part of the National Mass Pledge/Oath Against Drug Abuse to mark the sixth anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
The programme was presided over by BCCL CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal, who administered the pledge to officers and employees to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
BCCL Employees Take Pledge Against Drug Abuse
During the programme, officers and employees collectively pledged to remain away from drugs and contribute towards creating greater awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse.
CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal emphasised that tackling drug abuse requires collective participation from employees, families and communities.
He called upon BCCL employees to spread awareness about the adverse effects of drugs among their:

- Friends
- Colleagues
- Wider communities

CMD Manoj Kumar Agarwal Calls for Collective Action
Addressing the gathering, Agarwal said drug abuse can adversely affect an individual’s physical and mental well-being, while also impacting families, workplaces and society.
He stressed that building a healthy, empowered and productive society requires citizens, particularly young people, to stay away from drugs.
The BCCL CMD urged employees to become ambassadors of the drug-free movement and help create awareness about the consequences of substance abuse in their communities.

Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Focuses on Drug Demand Reduction
The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on August 15, 2020, with the objective of reducing drug demand across the country.
The campaign focuses on:
- Awareness generation
- Community participation
- Preventive measures
- Coordinated efforts to address substance abuse
The initiative has reached millions of citizens through various awareness programmes across the country. More than 1.25 lakh Nasha Mukti Mitras (NMMs) have also joined the campaign to strengthen community participation.
BCCL Reaffirms Commitment to a Drug-Free Society
The mass pledge at Koyla Bhawan marked another step by BCCL towards raising awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
Through employee participation and community-focused awareness, the company aims to contribute to the broader national effort to build a healthier, safer and drug-free society.
