BEL Signs ₹2 Crore MoU with ALIMCO to Support Divyaangans and Donate Medical Equipment in Tamil Nadu

Project to Benefit 709 Persons with Disabilities in Ramanathapuram and Sivagangai; TB and Family Welfare Departments Receive Cutting-Edge Diagnostic and Surgical Devices

Chennai: In a significant step toward supporting persons with disabilities, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth ₹2 crore with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO). The initiative aims to provide assistive devices and gadgets to Divyaangans in the districts of Ramanathapuram and Sivagangai in Tamil Nadu.

The agreement was signed by Mr. I. Jayandran, General Manager of BEL-Chennai, and Mr. A.V. Ashok Kumar, Senior Manager and Unit Head (APC) of ALIMCO. The MoU signing ceremony took place in the presence of Mr. Vikraman N., Director (HR) of BEL.

Through this project, a total of 709 Divyaangans are expected to benefit from various assistive devices that will help improve their mobility and quality of life.

Medical Equipment Handed Over to Strengthen Healthcare

As part of its corporate social responsibility initiative, BEL-Chennai also handed over advanced medical equipment to support public healthcare services in Tamil Nadu.

Mr. Vikraman N., Director (HR), presented the equipment to Dr. K.P. Rajan, Deputy Director (TB) of Virudunagar Aspirational District. The handover ceremony was conducted in the presence of Mr. I. Jayandran, GM of BEL-Chennai.

The donated equipment, valued at ₹1.46 crore, is expected to benefit nearly 14 lakh people by strengthening diagnosis and treatment facilities.

Equipment Provided for TB and Family Welfare Departments

The equipment provided by BEL-Chennai includes several advanced diagnostic and surgical devices. For the TB Department, the company supplied:

  • Five TruNaat machines
  • Two surgical microscopes
  • Three LED microscopes

In addition, for the Family Welfare Department of the Tamil Nadu government, BEL-Chennai donated three double-puncture laparoscopes, which will help enhance surgical capabilities and improve healthcare services.

These devices will support early detection and treatment of diseases, particularly tuberculosis, and improve medical infrastructure in the region.
