Patna: The Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, has approved 13 important proposals, including a major relief measure under the Chief Minister Medical Assistance Fund. The annual income eligibility limit for free treatment has been increased from ₹2.5 lakh to ₹4 lakh, expanding healthcare benefits for a larger section of the population.
Income Limit Increased for Chief Minister Medical Assistance Fund
The state government has raised the income ceiling for availing benefits under the Chief Minister Medical Assistance Fund.
Earlier, only families with an annual income of up to ₹2.5 lakh were eligible for financial assistance for treatment. Now, this limit has been increased to ₹4 lakh.
According to officials, this decision will significantly expand the number of beneficiaries, especially patients suffering from serious illnesses who were earlier unable to receive financial support due to income restrictions.
The government believes this move will reduce the financial burden on poor and lower-middle-class families and improve access to better healthcare services.
Changes in CDPO Recruitment Rules Approved
The Cabinet also approved the Bihar Child Development Service (Recruitment and Service Conditions) (Amendment) Rules, 2026.
Under this amendment, 25% of the posts of Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) will now be filled through direct recruitment via the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC).
Previously, these posts were filled through promotion of regular female supervisors. However, due to a shortage of eligible candidates, many posts had remained vacant, affecting the implementation and monitoring of ICDS schemes.
The government stated that filling these vacancies through BPSC will improve efficiency in the execution of child development programs.
19 New Posts Created to Boost Skill Development Mission
To strengthen the Bihar Skill Development Mission under the Youth, Employment and Skill Development Department, the Cabinet approved the creation of 19 new posts.
The annual expenditure for these posts will be approximately ₹2.24 crore.
This decision is part of the government’s “Seven Resolves-3 (2025–30)” initiative, which aims to double employment opportunities and income levels in the state.
Officials said the move will improve the implementation of skill development programs and provide youth in rural areas with better access to industry-relevant training.
₹83.25 Crore Grain Silo Project Approved in Madhubani
The Cabinet has also approved the construction of a 50,000 metric tonne grain storage silo near Pariharpur, close to Rajnagar Railway Station in Madhubani district.
The project, to be developed by M/s Leap Agri Logistic (Madhubani) Private Limited, involves a private investment of ₹83.25 crore.
Once operational, the facility is expected to modernize storage infrastructure in the state and generate employment opportunities for around 109 people, both directly and indirectly.
Integrated Aqua Park to Boost Fisheries Sector in Bhojpur
In another key decision, the Cabinet approved the establishment of an Integrated Aqua Park at the Banasur Fish Seed Farm in Bhojpur district.
The project will be developed under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana at a cost of ₹31.21 crore.
The aqua park is expected to enhance fish production and productivity, promote modern aquaculture infrastructure, and provide training in fish processing, trade, and scientific techniques.
It will also strengthen the rural economy by creating new employment opportunities and increasing the income of fishermen and fish farmers.
The Bihar government continues to focus on improving healthcare access, employment generation, industrial infrastructure, and rural development through policy reforms and investment-driven projects. Recent Cabinet decisions reflect a strong push toward social welfare expansion and economic growth across the state.
