New Delhi: The Centre has approved a series of personnel changes in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), including an extension of tenure for a DIG-rank officer, promotions of two officers from Superintendent of Police (SP) to Deputy Inspector General (DIG), and an extended posting for an Indian Telecom Service officer.
The move comes amid increasing deployment of the CBI in a wide range of investigations, making senior-level postings crucial for continuity and governance.
Tenure Extension for DIG Officer in CBI
The tenure of Murali Rambha (IPS: 2011, Tamil Nadu cadre), currently serving as DIG in the CBI, has been extended.
His new tenure will now continue from 08 July 2026 to 07 July 2027, extending his service in the post by one year.
The extension has been granted by relaxing the IPS Tenure Policy, allowing him to complete an extended eight-year tenure in the agency.

Two IRS Officers Promoted to DIG Rank
In another major decision, two officers from the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), currently serving as SPs in the CBI, have been promoted to the rank of DIG.
Amit Sanjay Kadam Promoted
Amit Sanjay Kadam (IRS-IT: 2011) has been promoted as DIG and will serve in the post until 01 May 2027.
Shubhendra Katta Promoted
Shubhendra Katta (IRS-C&IT: 2011) has also been elevated to DIG rank, with tenure approved up to 27 April 2027.
These promotions are expected to strengthen the investigative leadership within the agency.
Extension for ITS Officer Manoranjan
The Centre has also extended the tenure of Manoranjan (ITS: 2011), who is serving in the CBI.
He will continue his service as SP in the agency until 29 April 2029, marking a three-year extension.
