Jashpur: A major infrastructure boost has been approved for Jashpur district under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, with the state government sanctioning ₹9.45 crore for the construction of a high-level bridge over the Shree River on the Kunkuri–Tapkara–Lawaikera road.
The project, included in the 2025–26 state budget, aims to improve connectivity between Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Odisha, ensuring safer and uninterrupted travel in the region.
Key Link Road Connecting Three States
The Kunkuri–Tapkara–Lawaikera route is an important inter-state corridor linking three eastern states. Officials said the new bridge will:
- Ensure safe and smooth transportation
- Eliminate seasonal disruption during monsoons
- Strengthen inter-state connectivity
The construction of an approach road along with the bridge has also been approved.
End to Monsoon Travel Disruptions
Currently, the existing Sakra bridge on this route becomes unusable during heavy rainfall due to rising water levels, causing major inconvenience to locals.
Residents often face:
- Road blockages during monsoon
- Unsafe travel conditions
- Delays in transport of goods and services
The new high-level bridge is expected to permanently resolve these issues.
Boost to Trade, Education, and Employment
Officials said improved connectivity will benefit multiple sectors, including:
- Trade and commerce
- Education access
- Healthcare services
- Employment opportunities
The project is expected to accelerate overall regional development and economic activity in the border areas.
Local Residents Welcome Decision
Local villagers have welcomed the government’s approval, expressing gratitude to the state leadership. They said the project fulfills a long-pending demand and will significantly improve daily life and safety.
Social Welfare Push: Mass Marriage Scheme
Alongside infrastructure development, the state is also focusing on social welfare through the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, which supports economically weaker families in conducting marriages with dignity and financial assistance.
Under the scheme:
- Thousands of couples receive support annually
- Mass marriage ceremonies are conducted across districts
- Social equality and harmony are promoted
Record-Breaking Mass Marriage Event
On February 10, 2026, a state-level mass marriage event in Raipur saw 6,412 couples getting married, with participation both physically and virtually.
- 1,316 couples were blessed directly by the Chief Minister
- The event was recorded in the Golden Book of World Records
- It became one of the largest organized marriage events in the state
Development and Social Welfare Hand in Hand
The new bridge project in Jashpur, along with large-scale social welfare initiatives, reflects the government’s dual focus on infrastructure development and inclusive social support across Vishnu Deo Sai’s administration.
