- Generate employment in surrounding areas
Regions such as Korba and Janjgir–Champa are expected to benefit significantly from improved connectivity and economic activity.
Contribution to Regional Development and Employment
Beyond freight movement, the project is also expected to strengthen the socio-economic landscape of the region. Better rail connectivity will support:
- Expansion of trade and commerce
- Growth in tourism and services
- Improved access to education and healthcare
- Increased employment opportunities
The Chief Minister noted that the development will accelerate growth in surrounding areas and integrate them further into the state’s economic mainstream.
Part of a Larger Rail Expansion Vision for Chhattisgarh
The state government highlighted that Chhattisgarh has received increased priority in railway infrastructure development in recent years. Expansion includes:
- New railway lines
- Doubling and third/fourth line projects
- Modernization of railway stations
- Significant increase in railway budget allocation
Recently, the Dharamjaigarh–Pathalgaon–Lohardaga rail project was also notified as a special railway project, which the government sees as a major step toward improving connectivity in northern Chhattisgarh.
Dharamjaigarh–Pathalgaon–Lohardaga Project: A Game Changer
The Chief Minister also highlighted that the approval of the Dharamjaigarh–Pathalgaon–Lohardaga Railway Project as a special railway project is a major achievement for tribal and forest regions such as Jashpur.
This project is expected to:
- Connect Jashpur region to the national rail network for the first time
