Gariaband: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday announced a major development boost for Gariaband district, unveiling and laying the foundation stone for development works worth ₹603.46 crore. The announcement was made during a grand public programme held at the Police Parade Ground.
The initiative includes infrastructure expansion across key sectors such as roads, irrigation, health, education, drinking water, electricity, and public utilities, aimed at strengthening last-mile service delivery.
Breakdown of Inaugurated and New Projects
During the event, the Chief Minister dedicated 46 completed projects worth ₹86.75 crore to the public.
He also laid the foundation stone for 30 new development projects worth ₹516.70 crore, marking a significant infrastructure expansion phase for the district.

Department-wise allocation of new projects includes:
- Public Works Department (PWD): 13 projects worth ₹368.13 crore
- Water Resources Department: 9 projects worth ₹53.16 crore
- Bridge Construction Department: 4 projects worth ₹30.68 crore
- Health Department: 1 project worth ₹18.09 crore
- Electricity Distribution Company: 1 project worth ₹42.28 crore
Focus on Inclusive Development and Basic Amenities
CM Sai emphasized that the state government’s top priority is to ensure basic facilities for all citizens and deliver the benefits of development to the last person in society.
He stated that the newly launched projects will significantly improve connectivity, healthcare access, irrigation systems, drinking water supply, and education infrastructure in Gariaband district.
Electricity Relief and Energy Initiatives
The Chief Minister highlighted ongoing welfare measures for electricity consumers, including the Mukhyamantri Bijli Bill Samadhan Yojana, under which electricity bills worth approximately ₹757 crore are being waived, benefiting millions of households.
He also spoke about the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, initiated under the leadership of Narendra Modi, which promotes rooftop solar installations to reduce electricity costs and encourage clean energy adoption.
Additionally, under the Mukhyamantri Urja Rahat Jan Abhiyan, domestic consumers are receiving up to 50% subsidy on electricity consumption up to 200 units.
Major Benefits for Farmers
The state government continues to focus on agricultural welfare. CM Sai reiterated that:
- Paddy procurement is being done at ₹3100 per quintal
- The Kisan Unnati Yojana provides additional payment support for farmers
- Promotion of nano urea and modern farming techniques
- Expansion of cooperative credit societies to ensure local access to seeds, fertilizers, and loans
These measures aim to strengthen rural livelihoods and improve agricultural productivity.

Women’s Empowerment Through Financial Assistance
Under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, women in the state receive ₹1000 per month as financial assistance.
According to the Chief Minister, more than ₹18,165 crore has been transferred through 28 installments, significantly boosting women’s economic independence across Chhattisgarh.
Resolution of Drinking Water Issues in Remote Areas
The Chief Minister also announced approval for a ₹7 crore anicut project on the Tel River to resolve long-standing drinking water issues in the Supbeda region. The project is expected to ensure a stable and clean water supply for local residents.
Special Focus on Tribal Development
Highlighting Gariaband as a tribal-dominated district, CM Sai said focused efforts are underway for the development of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) such as Kamar and Bhunjia communities.
Key schemes supporting this goal include:
- Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana
- Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan
These programmes aim to improve education, healthcare, housing, roads, and employment opportunities in tribal regions.
Education and Digital Infrastructure Expansion
The state is currently observing Shala Pravesh Utsav (School Enrollment Festival) from June 16 to June 27 to encourage school admissions.
CM Sai urged citizens and local representatives to ensure that every out-of-school child is enrolled in education.
He also highlighted the expansion of Atal Digital Seva Kendras in gram panchayats, providing rural citizens access to banking, government services, and online facilities.
Step Towards a Developed Gariaband
CM Vishnudev Sai stated that these development initiatives align with the broader vision of a Developed India by 2047, led nationally by Narendra Modi and the goal of a Developed Chhattisgarh 2047.
He expressed confidence that the newly launched projects will transform Gariaband into a model district with improved infrastructure, stronger rural services, and enhanced quality of life for residents.
