Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government has reaffirmed that improving the prosperity of farmers, accelerating rural development, and ensuring better public services remain its highest priorities. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized this commitment while addressing the Progressive Farmers Conference and foundation stone-laying and inauguration ceremony held at the State High School ground in Rajnandgaon district.
The event was also attended by Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, along with several ministers, MPs, and senior officials.
₹510 Crore Worth of Development Projects Inaugurated
During the programme, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai dedicated and laid the foundation stone for 333 development projects worth over ₹510.89 crore in Rajnandgaon district.
Key announcements included several major infrastructure and irrigation-related works such as:
- Suspension bridge from Mohara Mela site on Shivnath River to Oxygen Zone
- Construction and conservation of Ira anicut
- Construction of Kumarda–Gendatola–Kallubanjari road
- Renovation of Ghumariya diversion structure
These projects are expected to improve irrigation facilities, strengthen rural connectivity, and promote agricultural diversification in the region.
Focus on Agricultural Growth and Farmers’ Welfare
The Chief Minister highlighted that multiple farmer-centric schemes are ensuring financial security and support to cultivators. These include:
- PM Kisan Samman Nidhi
- Krishak Unnati Yojana
- Minimum Support Price (MSP) procurement for paddy
He also assured that the government is committed to providing timely availability of seeds and fertilizers to farmers.
Sai noted that Rajnandgaon has shown remarkable progress in crop diversification and water conservation, encouraging farmers to move beyond traditional paddy cultivation towards pulses, oilseeds, and other profitable crops.
₹15,000 Per Acre Support for Crop Diversification
A major announcement during the event was the introduction of enhanced financial assistance under the Krishak Unnati Yojana.
From the Kharif season 2026, farmers opting for crops such as pulses, oilseeds, or other alternatives instead of paddy will receive:
- ₹15,000 per acre as input assistance
This initiative aims to encourage crop diversification, improve soil sustainability, and increase farmers’ income.
Strengthening Governance Through Digital and Citizen Services
The Chief Minister also highlighted several governance reforms aimed at improving public service delivery:
CM Helpline 1076
A dedicated grievance redressal system where citizens can register complaints and receive time-bound resolutions.
e-District Services
Over 400 government services including caste, income, and residence certificates are now available online, enabling citizens to access services from home.
Relief Schemes for Electricity Consumers and Solar Push
The government has introduced multiple energy-related initiatives, including:
- Chief Minister Electricity Bill Relief Scheme for economically weaker consumers
- PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana promoting rooftop solar installations
Citizens were encouraged to adopt rooftop solar systems to achieve long-term savings on electricity bills and support clean energy adoption.
Administrative and Industry Collaboration for Farmers
During the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the district administration and ABIS Exports for procurement of soybean produced by farmers. This initiative aims to provide better market access and ensure fair prices for agricultural produce.
Additionally, progressive farmers, self-help group women, village representatives, and agricultural extension workers were honored for their contributions. Mini kits were also distributed to promote crop diversification.
Leadership Highlights Rural Transformation
Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh praised efforts in crop diversification and water conservation, noting that farmers in Rajnandgaon are increasingly adopting mixed cropping systems and modern agricultural practices.
He also highlighted the role of women self-help groups and Padma Shri awardee Phoolbasan Bai Yadav in promoting awareness about sustainable farming practices.
